To say she was mad was an understatement. Even though it may have seemed trivial to anyone else, Autumn was furious with her older brother.
"you can't do that, it's against the rules!"
"Yes I can, I made my own rules; it's more fun that way!" Michael was attempting to put down his draw-4 wild card as his last card, but Autumn knew the rules of Uno better than anything; she played the game all the time and was extremely competitive. Most of the time she played on her phone, but she would never pass up the opportunity to play with an actual person.
Michael agreed to play with his sister under one condition; that she can't go for the face when she inevitably jumps across the table to injure him. she rebutted with telling him to follow the rules and they won't have any problems.
she looked at him, getting really angry now. "the rules very clearly state that you can only put a draw 4 card down if you have no card that matches the color of the last card played and you can't win with a draw 4 as your last card and you have to draw 4 if it's your last one. It's very clearly stated in the rules!"
Michael could see that Autumn was getting frustrated, but he didn't understand why it was such a big deal; she was the only one who took this game seriously. While Autumn was only one year younger than Michael, he acted as if he had years of experience on her and knew everything that she did and more. He was getting ready to argue with Autumn about how rules don't matter and how he won fair and square (well, not really; but he was going to convince her eventually). Fortunately for him, Meredith (their third roommate) walked through the door with bags of groceries for the pair to help her with.
She interrupted whatever he was going to say by telling the pair that if they didn't get the rest of the groceries, they both would have nothing to eat because they sure as hell weren't eating the food she just bought them.
Meredith had been living with the two siblings for six months now, but they had known each other for much longer than that. They all attend the University of Sydney, although Autumn is a year behind the other two.
