Note: Title undecided, that's why it's so lame -.-" XD any suggestions?

"Hey Toph! Toph! Tooooopphhhhhhh! Tooooooooo - " Sokka broke off with a yelp as I made the ground in front of him rise up and send him flying backwards, landing in a heap. I smirked, graceful as always. "Hey, what was that for?!" he shouted, scrambling up and flailing his arms.

"I'm blind, not deaf. I wasn't turning around because I was ignoring you," I emphasized, finally turning around and shooting him a glare.

"Well, I guess now you'll never know I finished the design for the airships your metalbenders will be using," he said, pointing angrily with his boomerang.

I sighed, "You just told me."

He sweatdropped. "Well, the council members all agreed the police force should have airships to help patrol the city."

"Me and my metalbenders are perfectly capable of handling things without your help," I scoffed.

"Well, these airships will give your metalbenders a huge range of view. You'll be able to see everything without having to actually walk through the city. You'll be able to drop down to handle any business without having to disrupt civilian life the way you would rushing from point to point on the ground." He paused and said accusingly, "I think it would be useful to note here that the suggestion of airships was only brought up after someone destroyed one of the finest cabbage shops in Republic City - I loved those cabbages!"

"Well, I could tell the theives were on the street just on the other side of the store, what did you want me to do? Waste time going around the block?" I huffed, crossing my arms.

"Exactly! With my airship, you could have just plopped right down next to the guy and done all your metalbending mojo - ," illustrated with very enthusiastic punches, " - without having to blast through stores. Why are you so against my idea?"

I plastered an exaggerated grin on my face and waved my hand back in forth in front of my face. "How am I supposed to see up in the air, you idiot!"

"Oh..." he said, his tone softening, "You don't need to go on the ships, Toph. We'll still have officers on the ground. We just need you to test out the ship and officially okay it as the Chief."

"Forget it."

"Come on, you know it's a good idea. The ships will also have medics on board, and extra back-up. Your officers don't want to admit it because they're so loyal to you, but with rumors of a bloodbender on the loose, they'd appreciate the extra security. You had three men hospitalized last week."

I sighed, more wounded? "Fine. I'll test it. But I'm not going up there on patrols."

-------------------

We arrived at the factory. "Hey Toph, glad you agreed to come," Aang said, smiling.

"Let's just get this over with," I said glaring at him.

We walked up the plank into the belly of the ship. I had to admit, the ship was pretty impressive. It was massive, stretching the length of the height of a high-rise building. The inside was also stocked with rows of extra armour for my officers, and tons of communication equipment. The ceiling of the factory opened up, and we started to rise. I sighed, as I lost connection to the ground, and my world shrank to include only the ship.

"Hey, Toph, I just wanted to let you know putting your officers in a situation you can't control by using Sokka's airships doesn't make you a bad leader. It makes you admirable for trusting them to handle themselves, and sacrificing a little of your comfort to help keep them safe."

"Yeah, yeah," I waved, "You're getting pretty good at this peacekeeper Avatar stuff, Twinkletoes," I said, though his words had comforted me.

He coughed. "Well, Toph, I was thinking, now that I've vanquished the Fire Lord and all, do you think I could have a different nickname," he whined.

"It still suits you," I smirked.

"Hey guys, we're just over the little island outside the city. We're gonna turn around and go back now," Sokka shouted from the front of the ship.

"Alright, thanks Sokka!" Aang shouted back. "Come onn, I've even mastered the Avatar state though! Look!" He began switching his arrow on and off, "Regular Aang, Avatar Aang, Regular Aang, Avatar Aang, Regular Aang, Ava - "

Sokka's POV

Everything was going as planned, my design was going to be used in the police force of Republic City despite Toph's reluctance. I snickered. All of a sudden the ground below us started glowing. "Whaa...?" I turned around, and watched as Aang went into the Avatar state, his arrow glowing the same color as the island. The light started coming through the floor and shining throughout the ship. It watched as it started concentrating around Toph, and then wrapped around the bracelet she had made with her metalbending from the leftover meteorite I made my sword from. All of a sudden she was yanked by the wrist and flew toward the island. "Toph!" we all shouted, then I could only sigh...Did I mention she went through the floor. As in, without hitting the metal.

Was it really to much to ask for one, crazy spirit/Avatar-free day?
