(Gaara and Toph)

Chapter 6

~Toph's POV~

We walked through the city, his arms crossed impassively across his chest the whole time. Children ran around on either sides of the street, shrieking with laughter, reminding me of the streets of Republic City. The adults made no move against him, but I could feel them get nervous as he approached. Earlier, he had made some of the council members nervous as well...He didn't seem dangerous though. Anyway, I could take him. We stopped outside an average-sized building. He held open a curtain drawn across the front of the door and motioned for me to go inside.

"Hey Gaara, h-," a guy wearing a suit with two large ears broke off as he looked up and saw me, startled. "Who're you?"

"This is Toph. I found her outside the village, and the council has allowed her to stay with us. We will assess her abilities. She calls her ability 'earthbending.' I'm interested in her ability to use sand to sense her surroundings. It may be useful to learn," Gaara said, coming in behind me.

"She can control sand too?"

"Yes, though she can also control earth and metal."

"Is she going to be instated as a nin?"

"That's what I need to find out. I may ask you and Temari to test her later as well."

"Well...welcome to our humble home. We haven't got a guest room, so I guess you can either share a room with Temari or sleep on the couch," the suited man said, addressing me.

"Who's Temari?" I asked.

"Oh, I forgot, this is Kankuro, my brother. Temari is our sister. She's out on patrols right now, but she should be back in a while. Kankuro can you watch over her today? I have to go speak with the council. Tomorrow we'll see what you can do with your 'earthbending.'" WIth that he turned around a disappeared out the doorway.

"Yes, of course, I'd love to babysit. Not like I have anything better to do," Kankuro said, wavingly sarcasticly at Gaara's receding figure.

"What, is he always this pushy?" I asked.

"Pretty much," he deadpanned. He turned his gaze toward me, curious, and said, "You must have really impressed him, though, if he's interested in fighting you." 

"Well, I am the world's - I am the best earthbender where I come from," I finished.

"Yeah, well Gaara's as good as they come, too. Hey, tell you what, I was just heading out. Wanna come?"

"Not really."

"That's okay, it wasn't a question."

I groaned. Pushiness must run in the family.  

mehhhh kinda forgot about this story bc i hate writing beginnings. actually i hate writing stories i can't concetrate/focus my ideas for that long, but my apush midterm inspired me to go to great lengths to procrastinate. so here i am! and.............idk woops just realized this is really short..sorry ill try to put sth up later maybe #motivation.ihasit.
