-- Present Day --
"Zeke, stop it! I'm trying to feed our baby." I laugh as Zeke continues to kiss my neck.
I hold Vaughn in my arms, placing a bottle in his mouth. The robot baby makes sucking noises like he's actually swallowing although there is nothing but air in the bottle given to us by our teacher. He was assigned to us about two days ago for advanced Biology and so far, so good. We are also suppose to write a paper on how their body system works and how their genetic coding works. I was actually starting to fall in love with our little man, his little tuft of dark brown hair and his blue eyes. Zeke and I had to pick out a baby that as closely resembled us. We both have dark hair, but while I have hazel eyes, Zeke has eyes the color of Bermuda's water.
"Isn't he cute?" I ask lovingly at Zeke.
"You're cuter." He winks when he says this.
I laugh at him and jump out of my chair nervously when the doorbell rings. I hand Vaughn to Zeke and start walking towards my wooden door. I look out the peek hole and smile as it's just Henry. I open the door widely for him as he steps inside work clothes still hugging his hard body. He smiles at me and raises one of his blond eyebrows when he hears Vaughn crying.
I laugh, "It's a robot baby for a school project. Don't worry, it's not like I got pregnant and didn't know it."
"Like that one television show!" We make our way into the kitchen where Zeke is still trying to stop Vaughn from crying. He quickly shoves him at me then glances at Henry.
"Henry, this is Zeke. Zeke, this is my neighbor Henry." They do the little fist bump thing guys always tend to do.
"Z, Henry is here to play chess with me. You can stay if you'd like, but if you want to come over later, that's cool too. I'll keep Vaughn." I smile at him.
He groans, "I still find it weird that you're on the school chess team."
"Well, when I'm old and fragile, everyone will be dumb. But me? I'll still be a logical thinker and smarter than ever!"
He shakes his head while rolling his eyes. He leans down to kiss me, but I wiggle away uncomfortably. His cheeks are turning pink from embarrassment but utters a bye and is out the door within seconds. Henry clears his throat driving me away from my private, inner thoughts. I force a smile as we make our way towards the chess table. We slowly take all the players out, barely breathing. Henry knows something is up, but he won't be the one to bring it up.
"Do you want anything to drink?" I ask before we begin.
"No, thank you. I'm fine." He watches me closely, as if I might be a bomb about to explode.
We begin playing, our brains both on overdrive wanting to beat the other. Our pawns move around, along with our queens. He captures mine, I capture his. It's turning into a game of Cat and Mouse. Will today be my victory or his? He's taking a long time to move, so I decide to ask him a question.
"How did you know Iliana was the one?"
He looks up, all concentration for his next move is gone. "Well, Tilly, it's hard to describe. It's like an outer body experience. Your heart feels tingly, you can't wipe the smile off your face, every time you kiss, you're like brought back to the first time you kissed. It's an amazing feeling."
"Before her though, did you think others were the one?"
"Of course I did. But when I felt that way with Iliana, I laughed at how stupid I had been when I was younger thinking those feelings I had had were of love."
