Jin's POV

I watched Namjoon as he paced around the room, a far away look on his face. His features tightened with thoughtfulness and anxiety, a sharp crease between his eyebrows.

"Namjoon, what is it?" I asked, reaching a hand out for him to take, signaling for him to approach me where I sat on our mattress, in our room.

"I'm just thinking," Namjoon answered sharply, ignoring my outstretched hand and continuing his aimless pacing.

"Well, what are you thinking about?" I pressed further, not letting his tone discourage me from trying to help but letting my hand drop to my side.

"Jin," Namjoon stopped where he stood in the middle of the empty classroom, his back turned to me. His voice was exhausted and frustrated, "just don't, okay? Not now,"

I felt a small pang in my chest and let myself feel offended for a second before pushing it away. I couldn't afford to feel anything at the moment.

"I'll leave," I sighed and stood up, making my way towards Namjoon and putting a hand on his shoulder, "you know where to find me,"

"Jin..." Namjoon's voice softened suddenly as he made eye contact with me, "don't leave, I'm sorry,"

"There's nothing to feel sorry for, I know you're under a lot of pressure," I took his hands into mine and moved closer to him, "I'm only trying to help, Namjoon,"

"I know, I know," Namjoon closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against mine, "I fucked up today,"

"The mission?" I asked, I was never present for any of the missions, I just listened through the walkie-talkie, ready to run out if someone got injured.

Unlike the others, I was deadly afraid of the zombies. The others had accepted the fact that the dangerous creatures were now a part of their daily lives, and they dealt with it accordingly.

I did the opposite; the more accustomed I grew to this new world, the scarier it seemed. The more I saw of those vile things, the more they terrified me.

I'd known this mission hadn't exactly gone well but I couldn't be sure what happened since I wasn't there.

"Yes," Namjoon sighed, "Jimin almost got killed, I should have known Taehyung shouldn't be trusted with the rescue mission alone. Jungkook even tried to tell me, I just ignored him. He could have died, Jin. How can I forgive myself?"

"What made you take the rash decision?" I asked, brushing past the 'how can I forgive myself' part, knowing comfort didn't work with Namjoon, only hard fact and logic, "why force a mission with Hoseok injured? Why change the game plan?"

"Jin," he sighed once more, releasing my hands and turning to face away from me, "we're running dangerously low on supplies. We've exhausted most of this town's resources, Yoongi and I estimate that we can only stay here another month or so,"
