Jungkook's POV

The sound that woke me up from my sleep was an air-shaking, ear-splintering explosion of noise.

A gunshot.

The sound of it yanked me back into full consciousness, pulling me up from the seat-cushions where I'd slept.

There were gasps of surprise all around me, the others waking suddenly from their sleep, jumping up in alarm. We all looked at each other and assessed the situation, still groggy from the sleep but automatically springing into defence mode.

My immediate assumption was that Namjoon and Jimin had come across a zombie or two and had dealth with it. But a gun was only used in emergencies so they didn't attract more zombies, especially at night.

The night was pitch black, the only light coming from the shining full moon outside. The air was completely still and quiet, the gunshot that'd awoken us seemed to have been a one-time occasion, there was no follow up. There were no footsteps, no voices, no sound in the slightest, except for the fluttering of startled birds. And after a moment it was clear that there was no sign of Namjoon and Jimin.

We all looked at each other, the same feeling of panic I was experiencing probably shared with the others. Something's happened to two of our crew members, two of our friends.
Even Taehyung seemed mildly concerned about the situation.

"Jin, get the wheel," Yoongi said, the first one to speak, his voice a bit strained from lack of use, "I'm going out there,"

Jin immediately did as Yoongi said and ran to the front of the bus, starting the engine. It seemed natural that, with Namjoon absent, Yoongi would be giving the orders.

I grabbed my baseball-bat from under one of the seats and followed Yoongi to the exit door, Hoseok trailing right behind us. Going back to sleep seemed to be Taehyung's plan.

Jin pressed a button on the dashboard to let us outside, the door sliding open with a rusty, screetching sound.

"What's going on out there?" Yoongi half-yelled into the silent night, rubbing his eyes, but got no answer, "Namjoon?"

"Hoseok, get the radios," Jin ordered when no voice sounded back, his voice urgent, "they had radios on them, right?"

"They better, or I'll beat their assess once we find them," Yoongi said as Hoseok ran to the back to fetch the radios. Yoongi and I continued out the door looking around the surrounding area, scoping for any kind of movement or sound.

"Monster, report to base." I turned back to see Hoseok talking through the radio. Jin stood up and grabbed the radio from Hoseok's hands, rather agressively.
