14. 5-ish Days. Part I.

Sarah’s POV

You know what sucks? Not being in a stable relationship. I mean Calum’s great and everything, but he’s never where I want him to be when I want him to be there which is really inconvenient because being in a relationship consists of three things: trust, temper and time management skills. And that is why I think it sucks to be in my kind of relationship at this time.

Unfortunately, this was one of those times where he was unavailable, so for the week that we were all away, Calum was “busy”. Of course I had my own suspicions, but I wouldn’t act on them without proof. But, failing that, everybody else seems to thinks that he’s no good, especially not for me.

Besides that, I was looking forward to a great week; doing nothing in the middle of nowhere; on a beach; with my friends.

“Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, snap out of it.” Cass snapped her fingers in my face for the about the twentieth time. “Woah, you look like you need a coffee. Or a pick-me-up shot of vodka.” She laughed. Someone tell me again why she was in such a good mood? “Or a new boyfriend.” She added, more to herself - and, I expect I wasn’t supposed to hear that - and I scowled at her, but she just laughed it off. “Come on, we’re going.” She tugged at my hand and I got up off the couch.

It was Friday, we were leaving and I was exhausted. Calum and I had just had a “debate” about what he was doing this week and he left. At least there was some peace now that he wasn’t here. Cass was in such a good mood because this was her unofficial engagement party week. Yes, she got a whole week to celebrate her’s and Zayn’s engagement. Lucky them.

I wasn’t as enthusiastic about going now that Calum wasn’t, but at the same time it’d give me some time to myself and he wouldn’t be bossing me around and telling me what to do all week. It was a win for me I suppose. The only downfall was the two hour drive there with Cass, Zayn and Josh. Somehow Cass had managed to persuade Josh to come with us all. We were all going too: Josh, Cass, Zayn, Wardy, Niall, Stef, Louis, Harry, Liam and myself.

Truly, I was just putting off this trip mentally for as long as I could, but I really wanted to go. So contradictory. I mentally rolled my eyes at myself for such childishness and followed them all downstairs(I could swear my leg muscles have improved greatly because of that malfunctioning elevator) to the car. Josh was already waiting, rather begrudgingly if I may say so and I was more than happy to let someone else drive. Thank goodness Zayn volunteered, I was way too tired to drive, no matter what time. But, that also meant that I was stuck in the backseat with Josh for two hours.

He didn’t look up from his phone for the whole two hours. Whose phone battery lasts that long anyway? Like have they invented a super phone or something with 500% battery? I sound slightly off my rocker, but come on. There was plenty of awkward silence when Cass and Zayn weren’t having a quiet conversation between just the two of them, and I didn’t have any headphones and because Cass and Zayn were talking, they didn’t have the radio on. It was beyond frustrating to sit bored brainless for two hours. I should stop complaining.

It was in the late afternoon when we arrived. The Tomlinsons and Horans were already there, just sitting about casually in the living room. “Hiya,” Wardy called when we walked in the door.
