I step outside just as the sun begin to set, sending streaks of orange-red fire across the blue sky. I took a long breath, taking in all of the beauty right in front of me as I lean myself on the big boulder just a few steps away from the building. I smile to myself, completely content and in awe of the beauty as I watch the sun goes down in the cool spring air. I close my eyes, breathing in the air of dusk.
"I always like sunsets," a husky voice says, snapping my eyes wide open. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." Hunter. He has an accent?
"It's you," I quietly say, closing my eyes once more. "Mr. Tobias is waiting for you inside."
"I don't want to come in just yet. Maybe I want to stay here longer. . . with you."
I roll my eyes, clearly feeling annoyed. I usually don't mind having a company, but I really want to be alone right now. I just look away, fully ignoring his strong presence. He comes closer, leaning in to a different boulder, copying my stance.
"I can feel you staring at me," I state, not even bothering to open my eyes.
I hear a small chuckle before he responds, "I enjoy looking at beautiful people, and I decide a while ago not to deny myself the simpler pleasure of existence."
What? "You did not just quote my favourite book," I blurt out, gaping at him.
"Maybe I just did." A smug grin is plastered across his face, and before I can think of a better comeback, he walks in the cafe, leaving me alone. If that's not cocky I don't know what is.
I look up at the sky again as the sun is sinking even lower in the sky. Finally the sun sets completely after a few minutes and the darkness follows. I stay out even longer than I usually does, not wanting to be around a certain someone. I was lost in my own train of thought when the automatic lights turned on. It's my cue to go back in.
The moment I stepped inside, I saw that the whole employees are gathered in a small circle with Mr. Tobias in the middle. I tilt my head slightly, not knowing what was going on. Kenzie spotted me, immediately signaling me to come join them.
". . .and I want tonight to run smoothly. And Abigail, where are you my dear?" Mr. Tobias calls, his head tilting from side to side looking for me. I raise my hand, squeezing myself further into the group. "I want you to introduce Hunter tonight before he performs." Of all people. Of course it has to be me. I sigh before agreeing. "Everything is settle then. Go back to work, people."
The clock strikes 8:30 and it's my cue to get my ass on the stage and introduce our little diva. I look over to the stage, admiring the way the small stool is place neatly in the middle with a spotlight already shining right on it. The stage at the corner has always been there forever it seems but we haven't had the chance to use it until tonight.
I slowly make my way to the stage and hold the microphone lightly before tapping it a few times to get everyone's attention. I can feel all eyes on me and I probably wouldn't mind if the ground is swallowing me right at this moment.
"Attention everyone," I start, putting on my best smile which almost seem forced. "So tonight, we have a special guest who will be performing some songs for us. Let me introduce you to Hunter. . ." Oh wait, what's his last name again? "Um. . . Give it up to Hunter?" I was so nervous the last part almost came out like a question. I'm such an idiot. I didn't even ask for his last name. That was embarrassing.
I quickly step down and made my way to the back of the cafe, standing next to Kenzie. "That was a horrible introduction," I grumble, covering my face with both hands.
"That was. . . okay," she laughs.
The moment Hunter steps into the stage, everyone stays quiet and murmurs among themselves, which is quite surprising. He sits on the stool, adjusting his guitar in position before tuning it and strumming lightly.
The whole cafe is filled with the calming and beautiful music as he sings the unfamiliar song. The moment he started singing, my jaws drop down to the floor. I look over to Kenzie and her eyes and her mouth are wide open. Exactly how I looked like five seconds ago. He's amazing. He's drop dead gorgeous. There I said it. His raspy voice send chills down my whole body and I stand still, completely frozen. "Wow," Kenzie gasps, eyes still on the man on the stage.
"I know," I breathe, not being able to get my eyes off of him. The way the light hit his face making him almost glow and how his eyes are squinted lightly due to the weight of his general happiness. His dark tousled hair is swept across his forehead and curled around his ears. And the way his plump lips move with every word he sings, this man must be a heartbreaker. He looks like a different person when he's on the stage, he almost looks and sounds like an angel.
He opens his eyes as soon as he finishes the song and everyone wildly cheers at how good he is. He stands up and turn his head to my direction before tugging the end of his mouth into a smirk and right here right there, it hits me. He was the man at the bar a week ago. That rude, rude man.
He walks over to me and whispers "It's Cole. My last name is Cole."
"Just like the man himself," I quietly mumble but he raises his eyebrows, which means that he heard me. "You were the rude man on the bar last week, weren't you?"
"Rude? That's not a nice thing to say, Miss Hart. You stared back, so that doesn't count," he cockily says, folding his arms. "And you, Miss Hart, are quite hard to please. Hard, Mr. Hart." With that, he smiles and walks away. Rude. What is his problem?
I usually can handle a lot of people talking shit to me but right now my feelings are hurt and I am annoyed and exhausted from working all day. It seems like the more time I spent with him, the more I despise him.
He's just not worth it.

I kick off my shoes and toss my keys somewhere before locking my bedroom door. I plop myself on the bed, covering myself with my blanket. My thoughts are all over the place as I fall asleep, images of the beuatiful man flows through my dreams.
