Chapter 5: Snooping Around
Cassie's P.O.V.
I spent the rest of the day and most of the evening in the privacy of my aunties house; I thought about moving in with Steven over and over but I still didn't know exactly what to do, 1) I'd be stuck with him and his son but it would make my mum happy, 2) I hated them buuttt my mum loved them...I wanted my mum to be happy but what what made her happy didn't make me happy. I made my decision and got up, walking into the kitchen where my auntie was washing up, "Auntie, could you drive me home?" I asked her, "sure sweetie, just give me a second," she replied and I left the kitchen to put on my shoes and grab my bag. As I was collecting my things I thought about my choice, I wasn't sure it was the right one but everyone makes mistakes, right?
I sat in the car staring out the window as the darkened world outside whizzed by in a blur, "You alright Cassie? you look like you're over thinking," my Aunties voice pulled me back into consciousness and I sighed, fiddling with the bracelets that covered my wrist as I thought over my answer. She was right, I was over thinking this but I wanted to make sure I made the right choice, "I'm fine," I replied still thinking and she seemed to accept my vague answer as silence, other than the radio, settled in the air once again, "you know over thinking will just make it worse, Cas. You know what you want and you know what your mum wants so just go with your first judgement and it will be fine," she said after a few minutes. I didn't reply because my only answer was, what if my first judgement wasn't right? I could mess the whole thing up with one sentence.
We got home all too soon and I grabbed my duffle bag before slowly walking to the front door, "Cassie just remember this is all up to you," my auntie called out of her open window before driving back down the road as I reached my doorstep, my decision still not fully clear. I took a deep breath and knocked three times before counting down in my head, 5...4...3...2...1; my mum stood in the door way and I braced myself for the shouting and punishment. I was shocked as I was engulfed in a hug, my bag dropping at my feet with a thud, "Cassie do you know how much you scared me?" my mum held my face between her hands as she forced me to look into her eyes, "never do that to me again, do you hear? I don't care how angry you get, you must never run away," she told me, sincere worry clear in her shaken voice. I didn't respond, "now go on upstairs and put this stuff away, Steven and Chresanto are here for dinner," she told me and I grabbed my bag before climing the stairs to my room.
Roc Royal's P.O.V.
I went upstairs in Linda's house since she had insisted we stay for dinner and decided to snoop around a bit, pictures lined the hallway as I walked down it and opened random doors, looking for something interesting. Cassie's room. BINGO. I slipped in and closed the door quietly, purple and black surrounded me as I looked around at stuffed toys, cd's, make-up, books and a wall of trophies. I turned off the lights so her mum wouldn't see me in there and walked over to her desk, flicking on the desk lamp creating a pool of light for me to see the stuff on her desk and a photo album caught my eye. I sat in the desk chair and picked it up, opening the book and flicking through the pictures, they were all of her at dance recitals, shows and competitions; I didn't know Cassie was a dancer, she didn't seem like one. The pictures ranged from her in frilly pink tutus when she was little to her with groups in matching outfits at recent street dance competitions, to be honest she looked quite good.
"found what you're looking for?" I jumped at Cassie's voice and dropped the book, "uh...um...y...wh-" I stuttered picking up the book and putting it back on the desk, "why are you in my room?" she asked dumping her bag down as she turned the lights back on so she could see me properly. Quick, answer Chres, think! I was mentally hitting myself as I tried to come up with a lie, "got lost?" I shrugged unconvincingly and she rolled her eyes as she walked in and sat on the end of her bed, "so you dance?" I asked changing the subject, "yea and?" she asked. I looked around her room and then back at her, "you don't seem like the type of girl that would dance," I told her, "you don't seem like the kind of guy that would snoop through a girls stuff," she mimicked me, "yeah well," I mumbled starting to leave her room. I watched as she got up to start unpacking her bag, "no point in unpacking, you guys are moving in tomorrow," I said before leaving as the door clicked shut; I couldn't see her face but I knew it would be priceless.
