We continue to talk once Connor is off the phone with Tyler and a group of kids show up and just stare at us sitting on the swings so we move to a bench a couple feet away "hey loser" inhear someone say and look up to see Dan "what?" "You're back again" "yeah so?" "Connor lilly let's go!" Tyler calls out from his car "can't wait to see you back at school" Dan says and smiles innocently and I grab Connors hand and we walk to Tyler car and I hear Dan say something under his breath as I walk away "if you have something to say to me you should say it out loud" I say as I'm opening the car door "I think I'm in love with you" Dan practically yells and then runs off "oh" "what are you going to do about that?" Tyler says looking into the mirror that shows me sitting there awkwardly in the back seat "nothing" I reply and lay my head on Connors shoulder and the call from Mary the day she killed herself replays in my mind a million times before we finally reach Tyler's house "troye" I say the second I walk in and he looks at me concerned "it's happening again" and he exchanges a glance with Tyler before pulling me out the door and onto the bench on their back porch "talk" he says and I spill everything from what happened with Mary to what happened 20 minutes ago "oh" he says once I've finished and I'm a crying mess "lilly none of it was your fault first of all, and second of all do what makes you happy" "troye it is my fault don't you see, I loved Mary and Dan loved me and I could have prevented what happened, none of this would have happened if I hadn't of gone and screwed it all up, Mary could still be alive if I hadn't of screwed over Dan" "but you didn't screw him over" "but I did" I say sobbing "lilly, this isn't your fault I promise you that, Dan shouldn't have done what he did, love is two sided and just because he loves you doesn't mean you have to love him, I hate yo bring this up but look at you and Daniel, you loved him as a father figure and he didn't reciprocate that, you can't always make everyone happy, you have to put your happiness before everyone elses sometimes, not everyone is going to make you happy although you make them happy, and you aren't going to be able to make everyone happy no matter how happy they make you, that's just how it works"
