"I never had a chance did i?" Olaf curled into his stomach, standing only by his knees.

"Thats the sad part," Pedro pushed the gun barrel further against Olaf's temple "you did once." And the gun went off.

"-laf, Olaf....OLAF!" I leap from my daydream, "S-sorry Ms. Berry!" I apologize, my english accent slipping through a bit from embarrassment. "Just zoning out I guess..." I bit my lip and rub the back of my neck sheepishly.

"That's alright but please try to pay better attention." I nod and she turns back to her blackboard to continue the lesson. I ignore the other students eyes as they giggle in my direction before tuning back in to take notes. I spot a boy in the front row, whom i never bothered to learn his name. His hair was jet black and blended well with his dark brown eyes. His gaze lingered on me for a few seconds too long before shrugging and turning around.

I return to staring out of the large window this time listening for any words aimed my way. Though, only a few moments later the bell rings signalling my freedom and i rush to leave the building.

I walked home briskly, eager to escape the cold fall air. When I reached my drive way I triple check for my Dad's car before entering the house.

"Im home!" I call throughout the house, tossing my bag down the hall into my room.

"Welcome back Honey!" My mom skips out of the kitchen, "I have some exciting news!" I grin at her glowing smile and allow her to usher me into a dining chair. She sits opposite me at the table. Unable to contain this 'exciting news' she blurts out the words at lightning speed, "Your moving to a dorm!" My jaw drops. I close my mouth, open it, then close it again. We had been discussing the idea of me moving out for a while, but we just never had the funds.

"B-but Mom-!" She quickly cuts me off, "Dont worry honey, i've been saving up for decades so i could suprise you!" I return her smile at full force. The shine falters as my thoughts reach a dark spot, "Mom i cant leave you here with dad." I speak softly as if she was the child. Her smile stays plastered on her face, growing sad. "It's my job as a mother to protect you. And as of now, i think this is the best way to do that." I watch her gaze flicker to the hand shaped marks on my neck and the bruises along my arms. I fight the urge to hide myself instead take her hand in my own, "Thank you."

My mother and I flinch as we hear a car door shut outside. I begin to stand so that i can run to my room but falter as the front door swings open. My father stomps in tracking dirt across the carpet as the door is slammed behind him. I keep my head down and try to stay unnoticed. He walks past me and instead opens the fridge to find his precious booze. "Welcome back." My mom greets him as calmly as possible. He chooses to ignore us both and heads straight for the couch, beer in hand. He stretches out infront of the Tv and turns the volume up painfully loud. I turn back to my mom.

"When do I leave?"
