Author's Note: Guys, I don't know if you noticed, but I managed to combine the welcoming feast and the first day of classes together. Whoops! I swear, I'll make it up to you.

"I don't understand how Professor Dumbledore has allowed Snape to be a professor here at Hogwarts! He seems to hate every kid who doesn't wear emerald and silver!" Harry groaned. He and Ron were walking together and complaining about their first class.

"That's Professor Snape, Harry." I reprimanded. "He may be a bit biased, but he is still a teacher here."

"You wouldn't like him either if he treated you like the rest of us." Ron mumbled.

I bristled. Harry cringed away from his new orange headed friend. Hermione pushed Neville a bit backwards. She must have seen my mood change. Harry's told me that I almost get as red as my hair when I'm angry. Ron, being the completely oblivious dolt he is, doesn't notice my quite obvious rage.

"You think that I'm perfectly fine with our Potions Master bullying my brother around, do you? Sorry to say this to you, Ron, but I happen to stick up for my siblings. You should take a page out of my book the next time a Slytherin bothers your brother." I fume.

"Fred and George can take care of themselves!" Ron scoffed. His ignorance seems to fan my embers of anger.

"Not the twins, you twat! I'm talking about Percy! Haven't you noticed the Slytherins giving him a hard time around the castle?" I growl.

"Not particularly no." Ron shrugs. "I've got so many family members, I can't keep track of all of them."

"Well, Ronald Weasley, at least you've got an abundance of family members to forget. I've only got Harry and as much as I love my brother, I'm sure we both want a family that loves us." the anger seems to drain out of my body as fast as the color leaves Ron's face. "Come on Hermione. Neville. Let's get some lunch."

I push through the crowds and only turn around to give Harry a small nod of apology, but I can tell that he was O.K. with me giving his friend a talking to.

Lunch was rather uneventful. Hermione, Neville, and I sat on one side of the bench. Hermione and I were trying to squeeze every ounce of wizarding knowledge out of him, which, I suppose, made him a bit uncomfortable.

"So one of those gold coins, a Galleon, is worth 17 Sickles? And then 1 Sickle is 29 Knuts?" Hermione repeated. She was writing everything that Neville had told us on a parchment she had pulled from her bag.

Neville nodded his head up and down, chewing on the sandwich he made for our midday meal.

Harry and Ron slid into the bench across from us, and Ron immediately goes for the food. Harry sits there for a while, staring at a bowl of chips in front of him.

"If you want the chips, Harry, you can just take them." I prodded. "No one else is eating them."

"Wh-what?" Harry mumbled. He shook his head once and looked up at me. I gave him an encouraging smile and nudged the bowl towards him.

"Oh! Um, thanks." Harry stuttered. He grabbed a handful of chips and placed them on his plate, finally starting to eat.

"Mhmm." I hum, slowly turning back towards Hermione and Neville. I kept an eye on my brother as he munched on some chips, knowing that something was bothering him.

"There's an owl!" a first year Ravenclaw shouted, standing up in his seat and pointing at the snow white owl fluttering through an opened window. Such a show off, I thought. He could've just stayed in his seat and point out the bird.
