People ask how my life is so perfect. Perfect hair, perfect clothes, perfect face, perfect family, perfect life, perfect everything. I don't know, I'm just living life like every other person. Hearing that question or the word "perfect" sickens me.
I'll admit, I do get good grades, I do have a roof over my head and food in front of me to eat, and I do have a healthy relationship with my family, friends, and my boyfriend, Jack. But that doesn't make me different from anybody else who attends my school.
"Alright class, I've graded your final exams from last week and may I say, you all bombed it horribly," Mrs. Fields announces, passing out the tests. "Well done, (Y/N)," she smiles once she hands me mine.
I didn't even get the chance to take a look at my paper before a crowd of people huddled around me, gossiping about my grade. "Wow, another A?"
"Ugh how? I got a B-!"
"Stop being such a try hard," comments shoots from all different directions. Thankfully, the bell rang just in time for me to escape out of the classroom from my classmates. I get that they're trying to be nice, but sometimes it's a little too nice. And it gets annoying. Extremely annoying.
I stop by locker to grab the books I need for tonight to study for tomorrow's history test. History is my worst subject and I definitely need an A to raise up my grade. Shutting the locker door, I carry my backpack out to the front of the school, waiting for two very special people.
First Daniel, my best friend in the whole entire world. No one can ever be compared to him. And Jack, my boyfriend. We've been dating for almost three months and in three days marks our anniversary date. Many people ask if I'm nervous, but honestly why should I be? It defines the timeline of Jack and I's relationship. I'm excited to see what he planned out.
I burst out the doors as fast as my feet can take me and saw Jack sitting on the usual staircase. But it seems like he has company, and judging by the back of that person's head, it's not Daniel. Who is that girl? Is he cheating on me? He can't be, I'm probably just overrating. Yeah, that's it. In a matter of seconds, Jack slides his left hand on the girl's cheek, leaving kisses all over.
A small weep left my mouth. How could he? Why now? What am I saying? Why at all? I can't believe this. I head back in the building, crashing into my best friend. I hold back a few tears. "Hey Daniel."
"What's wrong? Did Jack ditch again?" he asks.
"I wish."
"What?" he questions, looking out the door to see Jack with his 'friend'. "That idiot! How dare he!" Daniel's voice suddenly heated up. "Wait here."
I raise a brow. "What are you doing?"
"To kick his sorry ass." I've never seen swear so much in a minute. Normally, he acted like a sweet, innocent, generous boy.
Before he can exit out those doors, I quickly grab his hand begging him to not. "Please, don't. It's not going to change anything, but make things worse. What Jack did is already done. I just have to accept the fact that I'm not good enough."
"What are you talking about? You're way better than that loser. You deserve someone that treats you the way you should be treated and someone who isn't lying to you." Daniel takes a step closer with every word. "Someone who has your back and can lighten up your day when your feeling down."
At this point I could feel his warm breath hitting my face. "What-what are you trying to say?" I feel my body tense up. I've never been this close too anyone before besides from Jack. All of this felt so wrong. I know Jack cheated, but this just doesn't feel right either.
Daniel tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and gave a gentle kiss on my forehead. His hands wrapped around me made me feel safe and secure. Most importantly, it made me forget all about before. "Thanks," I mumble into his shoulder.
"Don't mention it." I could feel his smile widen as he rests his chin above my head. "Are you still up for some ice cream?"
I slowly escape out of his grip and nod. "Yeah," I smile. With Daniel's hand in mind, we walk out of the building and straight to the ice cream parlor.
"Two rocky roads please," He tells the cashier knowing that that's my favorite ice cream flavor of all time.
