"I don't get it. Why are we in school when it's our one year anniversary?"
"Soonyoung, we're only dating. It's not so much of a deal that we should skip school."
"But it's been a year! That's a pretty big deal!! Some people don't even last a month. Or a week!"
You turned to your boyfriend, grinning as you saw him lying on his back across the wooden surface of a desk, his arms waving around the air as he talked.
"We'll do some stuff after school. It's a Friday, so we don't have to worry about homework or anything. It'll be fine," you tried to reassure your boyfriend. Soonyoung flailed his arms like a child, his bright blue sweater flapping around. He looked over at you, the sun coming in from the window lighting up his eyes and making them shine like the dark brown stars they were. Soonyoung sat up with a huff, running his hand through his dark hair and messing it up more than it already was - but still managing to make it work fantastically.
With much reluctance, Soonyoung eventually said, "Fine, we'll do something after school. But what?" he questioned.
"I don't know Soonyoung, but can we talk about that later? I'm supposed to be helping you study," you tell him. Soonyoung sighed.
"Isn't the test on Monday?" he asks. You nod.
"Yes, yes it is. But we got the teacher to leave the room just for this purpose. Let's not waste it."
If your back hadn't been facing Soonyoung, you would have seen him grin. The boy silently hopped off the desk, taking a couple steps closer to you before quickly placing his hands on your hips, turning you around, and pulling you closer to him, stepping back till he hit the desk lightly. You were taken by surprise, letting out a gasp when Soonyoung suddenly whipped you around.
"Soonyoung-" you started, but was interrupted by the boy himself.
"If we have the whole room to ourselves, then why don't we cherish it? Soon enough other students will be coming in, and I don't know how much longer I can wait for us to be together," Soonyoung said, his voice growing softer. You blushed lightly at his words. It was silent for a moment as Soonyoung allowed you to think about his offer. Instead of pushing against him, like you were planning to do, you placed your hands at the base of his neck, rubbing your thumbs against his skin a few times, before looking up at him fondly.
"Fine," you relented. "What are we gonna talk about?" Soonyoung thought for a moment before answering you.
"We could talk about what we're going to do this afternoon. Maybe even over the weekend. Make it an anniversary weekend." Soonyoung wiggled his eyebrows in a playful way and you laughed at your boyfriend.
You proceeded to start talking about what things you two could do together. You offered the idea of a movie, and Soonyoung threw in that you should go to the beach. You laughed at that one.
"It's still winter, Soonyoung. We'd freeze," you told the boy. He opened his mouth to say something, paused to rethink, and let out a laugh.
"Yeah, you're right," he said. You shook your head at the boy's silliness. You continued to talk about random things, anything that would come to your head. At some point, you stretched up your arms and wrapped them around your boyfriend's neck. He smiled at you when you did this.
"You know, a movie does sound really good right now," Soonyoung said.
"Yeah?" Soonyoung nodded. "Cool. At least we got one thing," you sighed with a small giggle at the end. You looked up at your boyfriend, meeting his eyes, and he smiled softly. You smiled back. You noticed Soonyoung slowly leaning towards you. You waited to see what would happen, although you had a pretty good idea already.
Soonyoung moved slowly, in absolutely no rush, until he finally pushed his lips against yours. You responded immediately, kissing back against his soft, adorable lips. You felt the sun against your cheek, Soonyoung wrapped his arms fully around you, and he tilted his head slightly; the moment was purely sweet.
You pulled away, your eyes still closed. When you opened them, you found Soonyoung smiling widely down at you. You smiled back. Soonyoung started leaning back in, and you were awaiting another kiss when you heard the classroom door open.
You immediately ripped apart from Soonyoung, turning around and staring ruefully down at the open textbook, your face bright red.
You waited only a beat before saying, "Does that make sense Soonyoung?"
It was silent for a moment and you prayed that Soonyoung would play along. Quickly Soonyoung came up next to you.
"Yeah, I think so," he said and you looked up at him. Soonyoung mouthed "teacher" to you. You nodded, barely noticable. You saw Soonyoung had a light dusting of pink on his cheeks, which made you very aware of your own blush. You took a moment to try and calm down your beating heart.
"Alright. Moving on then...," you said, not sure where to go with it. Thankfully, the teacher decided to speak up.
"Hello again you two," he called. You turned around, acting surprised.
"Oh! Hello sir," you said, putting on what you hoped was an innocent smile, but wasn't so much so that it looked suspicious.
"Were you successful in tutoring Mr. Kwon?" the teacher asked you.
"I'm not sure how much got through to him," you said, grinning at Soonyoung. "But he was doing pretty good."
"That's good." The teacher smiled kindly at you two. Unless he was very good at hiding his thoughts, it seemed he didn't see what was happening before he entered the room. You sighed internally.
"It's almost lunch. Why don't you two get a head start?" your teacher said, smiling at you and Soonyoung. You both smiled back.
"Thank you sir! We'll be going then," Soonyoung said a little rushed. You two quickly gathered your things and hurried out of the room, barely another mumble in the direction of your teacher.
Soonyoung shut the door, by request of the teacher inside, and you both simultaneously sighed.
"That..." Soonyoung muttered, running his hand through his hair once more. "Was close."
"Too close," you agreed, shaking your head. You both looked at each other, smiling as the stressful moment passed. Soonyoung tilted his head and you both started walking down the hallway.
"Since we got out early, do you wanna go off campus for lunch today?" your boyfriend asked. You nodded happily. "I'll buy yours," Soonyoung said then. Your nods turned into shakes.
"No no, that's ok," you tried to explain, but Soonyoung cut you off.
"No I will. It'll be part of your anniversary present," he said, smirking at you. You smiled and pushed him lightly.
"Fine. I can't argue with you anyways," you gave up.
"Glad you know," Soonyoung said, giving you an absolutely adorable smile; his lips wide, teeth on show, with puffy cheeks and his eyes disappearing behind his squished eyelids. Your stomach clenched at your boyfriend's signature smile and you linked your fingers with his, giving a small smile back.
"I love you," you said. Soonyoung's smile, if at all possible, grew. He pressed a quick kiss to your cheek.
"I love you too~"
