It was around the end of June, the air was warm and the sound of swing sets flooded the scene. I took a moment to appreciate the pleasant summer weather, before stepping inside my favorite dainty coffee shop. The name of the coffee shop was called "Beanz".
I know.
The name was ridiculous itself, but It's not the name that counts, it's the product. The coffee was always handmade, fresh, and perfect according to my liking. Most would just tell me to go to Dunkin or Timmy Ho's but something about Beanz just drew me in. The shop was located at the bend of two intersecting streets making it wider than others. The outside looked almost as though it were a log cabin, but as you made your way inside, it was comfy and retro looking which I personally loved. Inside, was scattered stools and couches along with sheer white curtains and freshly polished tables, with no more than 8 people present. It's not a very popular place but it fits my liking.
I walked inside the shop as the tiny bells jingled above the door frame announcing my presence. I hesitated to take in the sweet smell of coffee and oak, when I made my way to my table beside the window. I quickly grabbed my wallet and headed towards the counter. As I was nearing the front, my place was taken by some guy pushing me aside. Disgusted, I tapped on his shoulder ready to give this jerk a piece of my mind. He slowly turned around after completing his order and looked at me confused, our gaze fixated.
Before I could say anything I froze, falling into an intense stare. This 'jerk' happened to be extremely handsome. He had deep brown eyes, fluffy brunette hair, sharp facial structures, an amazing figure, and a sturdy posture yet balanced most of his weight on his right side. I gulped in embarrassment, relieving my insulted expression into one that's emotionless, despite the feelings raging in my stomach. "Yes?" He questioned sparking a slight smirk. My heart melted at the sight as I let out a soft, "N-nothing...."
"Ya! You just pushed her out of line!". Exclaimed my old friend Hoseok. I sulked at how defensive he was being. The man looked at him then back at me "Oh! I'm so sorry ma'am, I didn't realize you were standing there!" He rambled. I shook my head, reassuringly waving my hands as Hoseok exclaimed "Yea, you better be sorry! Don't worry Chae-Eun, I got this", being extra as usual. The man turned around and glared at him flaring his muscles as a warning. Hoseok glanced at him, then quickly went back to preparing his coffee. I pursed my lips at Hoseok , sarcastically showing him how karma works.
The man turned back around and I was met with a warm smile. "Here, to show you how sorry I am, I'll buy your coffee, my treat." He offered reaching for his wallet. I smiled and quickly turned it down, "No, no I can't let you pay sir, it's alright." I stammered. The man tilted his head to the side and poked his right cheek with his tongue, as if he was thinking about something. Shortly, he nodded and moved aside, grabbing his coffee from Hoseok.
I gave Hoseok my regular order and waited as he vigorously prepared my coffee. As I was waiting the man lingered beside me, slowly sipping his coffee, his thumb hung over the rim of his pocket. I shot a few glances towards him, hoping he wouldn't notice me admiring his profile. He truly is perfect. "Here you go Chae-Eun! I made it extra special just for you!" Hoseok cheered showing off his dimples. I smirked, grabbing the coffee, then reaching into my bag. Before I could even open my wallet the man slammed down the exact amount and shot me a wink. My face instantly flushed while Hoseok glared at him coldly.
"Now, since I bought your coffee, we can get to know each other a bit." The man exclaimed holding out his hand. I hesitated, then took it shyly. His hands fit perfectly with mine and they were oddly smoother than they looked. He ran his thumb across my hand and cheerfully dragged me to his table. We took our seats when the room suddenly fell silent. I was so nervous, I just slowly sipped on my coffee waiting for something to break the silence. All of a sudden, he looked at me and smiled, "So, I guess we should introduce ourselves right?...I'm Jeon Jungkook, but you can call me Jungkook."
I set my cup down when he reached out his hand to greet me. I shook his hand and said "Hello Jungkook-ssi, my name is Park Chae-Eun, but you may call me Chae-Eun. It's a pleasure to meet you." I returned a smile and bashfully placed my hand back on my lap.
An hour had passed as we exchanged interests which were almost identical. We both love coffee, video games, dancing, singing, being athletic, spicy food, the summer weather, and so much more. We laughed a lot today, bringing us strangers closer together, yet it somehow seemed easy to just sit and talk to him. He and I shared the characteristic of being a great listener, which I really admired about him. I could tell that under his bubbly personality was a deep and insightful thinker like myself, making it easier to talk about personal opinions than most people I associate with.
"Well,Chae-Eun, it was nice talking to you and I hope we could chat again soon, but I have to get going and eat dinner with my friends for his birthday today." Jungkook said. My expression fell, I didn't want him to leave yet, I really liked his company and who knows when we'd meet again. I slowly looked up at him and asked "Um...Jungkook-ssi?" He widened his eyes waiting for me to continue. "Do you....think we could exchange numbers?" I asked shyly. A cute smile spread across his lips as he reached for his cell phone. "Of course."Fuck
