"Well hello there, angel. Today must be my lucky day."
I froze on the spot as I looked at the man standing in front of me. He was a bit taller than Theo and probably a couple of years older. His hair was a darker shade of brown and he was also muscular. Now here I am standing in front of this Greek God in just a towel, showing off my cuts, scars and bruises.
"And you are?" I tried keeping my cool, although it was extremely hard.
"What, so Theo hasn't told you about me yet? Well my name's Sam, I'm Theo's older brother." He smiled, stretching out a hand for me to shake.
I looked from his hand, to the clothes, to his hand again, then to my hand holding my towel in place and finally at his face. He seemed to get that I didn't have any hands to shake so I just gave him a smile.
"Ah so you've met my brother." Another voice sounded nearby.
Great so now I'm standing in just a towel, which only just stretched around me, and between the two hottest brothers I've ever seen. Just kill me now.
An arm suddenly wrapped around my waist, making me squeal and jump away. Sam watched me, looking confused and worried.
"Um... sorry?" Although his apology came out more like a question.
"I-I'm going t-to get changed." I quickly span on my heels and ran back into the bathroom, locking the door behind me. I sighed and mentally slapped myself for overreacting like a idiot.
I looked down at the pile of clothes that I had been given and let out a small gasp when I realised what they were. There was a pair of Theo's boxers and one of his jumpers. Great, now I get to look even more like an idiot. I hesitantly changed into them and looked at myself in the bathroom mirror. I didn't look too bad other than the few cuts and bruises that were on show.
I stepped out of the bathroom and hushed voices from downstairs drew me over to the stairs. I know I shouldn't eavesdrop but I have to know what they are talking about. I sat on the top step and listened.
"Theo, there's something wrong with that girl."
"What? Because she didn't fall for your charms?"
"I'm being serious. Something's up with her." Sam's voice had turned scarily stern.
"What are you talking about? And her name is Chloe."
"Well, did Chloe tell you how she got all those cuts and bruises?"
"Yeah, she fell down her stairs and apparently she bruises easily. Don't jump to conclusions, Sam."
"You really believed her? Stairs can't make cuts like those. There were old scars as well. How often can someone fall down some bloody stairs? She flinched when I touched her and she looked petrified."
Theo stayed silent as though he was thinking carefully about what he had been told. My heart raced again. I can't let anyone find out about him, I just can't. Back before all out money issues started, my dad once told me that he was my shadow, always watching me to make sure I'm safe. Now that shadow haunts me. It mocks me and hurts me, even when my dad isn't around. It's watching me right now, listening to ever word being told downstairs.
I decided to walk down to them to stop them from talking. Whilst walking, I listened too the rest of their conversation.
"Look, Theo. I'm just saying keep an eye on her. Does she have a boyfriend?"
"I don't think so. Most people are scared of her."
"Yeah well I am pretty badass." I cut in, walking into the living room. They were both sat slumped on the sofa and jumped when I walked in.
