Arianne Scarlet

“I’ll be down in a sec, mom!” I hollered.  “Hurry, Austen’s here!” she yelled.

I quickly put on my parka and a pair of jeans. I ran down the stairs and came face to face with my best friend since childhood. He was leaning on the kitchen table looking like he came out of a magazine. He was everything a girl could ask for. He, with his silky black hair and his eyes the color of the clouds on a rainy day. I truly love the rain because it reminds me of him. Not to mention he looked absolutely gorgeous. Sigh.

Austen

“Did you forget something or is it just me?” I asked as I looked at her feet. She looked at me and followed where my eyes went.

“SHIT!” She yelled and ran back up to her room.

I laughed at her….

“Your language!” her mom shouted. She shook her head as she said” you better take care of my daughter you hear? It’s her first day in this school.”

“Got it, Mrs. Flannigan, you know I’d never let her go.” I smiled.

“Let’s go!” Arianne shouted as she dashed out of her house.

“That’s my cue, bye Mrs. Flannigan!” I walked towards my car and saw that Arianne was already seated up front.

“Shit I woke up so fucking late today, didn’t even have any time to put on decent clothes, all I managed was my parka and jeans. Fuck. You could’ve called me earlier to wake up you know.” Arianne complained.

“Jeez Arianne, chill. It’s not the end of the world.”

“Well it is to me! It’s my first day in a new school and I look like I just woke up!”

“Well…Technically you did.” I smirked as I looked in her direction.

“You’re such an ass, you do know that don’t you? My mom is like ’you should follow Austen’s example, he’s such a good boy’ “

“She says that?” I smiled to myself.

“Yeah, like every day it’s so annoying. Jeez if only she knew, I’d look like an angel compared to you.” Ari grumbled.

“It’s better she doesn’t.” Just thinking of not seeing her anymore…. I don’t think I’ll be able to handle it.

“Dammit.” She swore as she tried her best to look decent but as she looked now she’ll still easily be the goddess of the century.

It was quiet through the drive to school until I parked my car. Everyone quickly crowded around my car the second I stepped out. I look at Arianne and saw that my best friend is hitting on her! HITTING ON HER!

“Hey, your new here, aren’t you?”  Jasper asked in a flirty tone.

“You’re right.” Arianne answered. She didn’t even bat an eyelash at Jasper while he was hitting on her. Not to feel arrogant or anything but he IS friends with me and whoever’s friends with me is one staircase higher than the “Clash.” Even if my friends and I aren’t part of it.

She just looked at me and said” Thanks for the ride.”

She pivoted and walked away and just for a split of a second all eyes were on her.

Arianne

I walked to my first class after visiting the principal’s office, muttering” Where the hell is Room 214?” I looked around and all I could see are: Detention rooms, Gyms and places that aren’t Room 214.

“Are you looking for something?” a deep voice asked.

I looked back and saw a guy who could rival Austen in looks and body. He was wearing a fitted white shirt and a black leather jacket completed with his black pants and….cleats?

I laughed long and hard and when I looked at him he had this confused look on his face that keeping the laughter that I momentarily stopped burst out. I started to cough and finally stopped laughing.

“I’m sorry, I’m new and I’m trying to find where room 214 is?”

“I’ll show you where it is if you tell me why you laughed.” He looked at me with those intense green eyes that I stuttered when I said” ummm… I….. uhh.. ummm….Never mind! “

I started to turn when he suddenly pulled my arm.

“Wait, it will take you forever if I won’t take you.” He said.

“Its fine, doesn’t matter I’m late for first period anyways.” I shrugged.

“Come on I’ll take you” He said as he let go of my arm.

“Aren’t you late for class too?” I asked.

“Yeah well….coach asked me to do something and yeah….” He answered.

“Ahh…. Got it”

“Got it? What do girls know about Football?” He said angrily.

I was getting annoyed. He thought that just because I’m a girl, I don’t know anything?

I glared.

“Just because I’m of the opposite sex doesn’t mean I’m stupid when it comes to ‘Manly games’, Cleats” I said angrily.

“Cleats? Did you just call me Cleats?” He asked in obvious dismay.

“Yeah well…What did you expect? ....Oh handsome Greek god I’m so sorry I made you angry?” I asked with such sarcasm dripping in my voice that you can’t possibly miss it.

“You think I’m a handsome Greek god?” He asked with such arrogance, that I immediately knew what kind of guy he is.

I blushed furiously as I thought up a good enough comeback but before I realized it we were already running.

“Come on, since you told me I’m a ‘Handsome Greek god’ I’ll forgive you.”  He said.

He was holding my hand and running as fast as he can and before I know it we were in front of Room 214.

He looked at me with a million dollar smile on his face that would have made any girl faint but it has no effect on me. Austen would give me a million dollar smile any day, I grew accustomed to it and hid behind my poker face which took years to perfect.

I looked at him and said” thanks” and flashed him a smile that can equally or surpass to his own. I opened the door and went in but before I went to the empty seat that I was assigned since it was the only seat available, I looked back and saw a very confused look on his face that made me smile.
