CHAPTER 1 – Why don’t you come over Valerie

- Come on honey, you’re going to your dad’s today, we mustn’t be late! – Valerie yelled upstairs to hurry her 8year old daughter Danielle.

-Coming mom! – She shouted back rushing down the wooden stairs. She was still sleepy, her curly ginger hair was all messy and her big, emerald eyes were half closed. She kissed her mom on the cheek wishing her good morning before digging in those cereals.

Her mom was a busy woman. Valerie was a respected children’s psychiatrist known across the country specialised for teenagers. And helping suicidal teens was a full time job.

Plus, she was a single mom with a careless ex husband. Yes, life wasn’t easy for Valerie Smith Styles. That’s why every single bit of her life was planned, but she didn’t mind. It meant safety for her and her kids and she liked it that way.

Danielle got her hair colour from her mom and the curls from her dad. Valerie had long reddish ginger hair which reached the half of her back. It was a bit wavy and flowing, but she made it curly frequently.

She had a smile to die for, although, it seemed she didn’t smile as often lately.

A lot of woman could envy her slim figure which she kept by working out every week. Not the gym, but going cycling with her daughter over the weekend or similar.

At the moment, she was wearing her usual work costume. A pencil skirt down to her knees, a white shirt with a few ruffles and a suit jacket. She realized it was too hot for it though, it was an above-average warm May.

Valerie rushed through the door pushing her daughter out and locking the apartment.

–Mommy, I’m sure dad won’t mind being a few minutes late, we don’t have to run so fast- Danielle said trying to calm her I’m-always-in-a-hurry mom who really hated being late.

–I know sweetie, but daddy will wait too long and spend less time with you then, that’s why we’re rushing- Valerie fixed her daughters hair one more time after trying to brush it for a long time and looked into her eyes.

God, it’s like I’m looking at Harry again. I’m never getting used to that. She thought trying to get herself together. It’s not she still had feelings for her ex husband, but there was just something about those green orbs and how they pull you in, not letting you leave.

A taxi pulled over waking her from her daydream. They both got inside telling the driver the address to Harry’s penthouse. It was on the way to her practice so she agreed to bring Danielle to him.

Soon, they saw him standing on the sidewalk waving. She paid the driver, realizing she forgot to tell him to wait only when he already drove away. Luckily, her office was just a few blocks away so she could walk.

Harry Styles was standing in front of her, smiling and hugging his daughter.

–How’s my favourite girl? -  He said lifting her in the air.

Although it’s been almost ten years since they got married, he hadn’t changed a bit. He was like Peter Pan, never growing up. His curly locks were as long as they have always been, making him look like a teenager. Those full pink lips revealed his gorgeous smile as he hugged Valerie.

They were in a pretty good relation, unlike most ex spouses. It hasn’t been much different in their marriage since they got Dan either, that’s probably the reason they managed to stay such good friends after the divorce.

He fixed his curls in a way teenage girls all over the world still adored regardless his age, locking his smiling eyes with hers.

–Do you have time to drink a cup of tea with us? - He tried to convince her to come with them.

–Yes, yes mommy, come with us, it will be fun! – Little Dan pulled her mothers sleeve wanting her to come.

She loved seeing her mom and dad together, they looked so...harmonious. Like they were two parts of the same melody, fitting perfectly together creating a wonderful sound.

-Sorry, I can’t. I gotta run, there are patients already waiting for me. Have fun guys, see you tomorrow Dan, and behave! - Valerie kissed her daughter’s cheek saying goodbye, waving to Harry. She had to hurry if she didn’t want her first patient Maxine, a 15yearold self harming girl, to wait.
