Here we go with the north of Italy! Tourists describe this land as a lovely, peaceful and calm place to relax. But this territory is not only that, in fact the nord of Italy is known for the big, famous clothing brands as Gucci, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana and the huge cities known for the modelling fashion weeks, for the football and for the night life.
From my own personal experience, I've been in a few places in the north of italy, and I absolutely loved it!
I've been in milano for the expo 2015, visiting the beautiful pavillions of each country, I've visited the duomo of milano, and walked the beautiful gallery Vittorio Emanuele. I've been to Rimini and Pesaro, which are cute little cities next to the sea, where everything seems so close, little and accessible.
I've been also to Venice and Bologna, amazing cities with an amazing history.
But talking about the territories of north of italy, I can start to talk about the Dolomiti.
The dolomites, knows as pale mountains, are part of the italian alps, and they are situated in the area between Trento, Belluno and Alto adige. This place could be liked by lot of canadians because its one of the most important ski centers in the world. Indeed dolomiti superski is the biggest ski center of all Italy and one of the biggest in the world. it offers 450 point of ski lifts and more than 1200 km of slopes and its composed of 12 areas, where we can ski from december to april non stop. For example, lot of celebrities go skiing in Cortina d'ampezzo, known as the best area to go skiing.
Still talking about ski, the dolomites are not the only place where italians go skiing.
In Fact we have also Livigno and Selva di Val Gardena, in Lombardy, where there are 115 kilometers of slopes for 75 square kilometers of skiable surface. This is also the favorite destination for free skiers and snowboarders who can practice in the various obstacle snow parks, such as the Mottolino, the Livigno Park 3000, the Amerikan and the Woodpark. And after the sport we can go relax at the Bormio spa, just 40 minutes far.
So for the ski lovers, this might be what you have been waiting for!
Nord Italy is also known for the big lakes. The biggest and also most famous lake is called Lake of Garda, its situated between brescia and Verona and is known for its crystal clear water.
At the south end of the lake, we can find the town of Sirmione that is covered by the Rocca Scaligera, a fortress with harbor views. Near to the lake, there are the Grotte di Catullo archaeological site, that includes a Roman old city. And also, The Dolomites are next to them.
