Chapter 1

Hi guys. This is my first time writing a story so please bear with me and all my upcoming mistakes.. with that being said, enjoy the story

Jungkook pov
Jungkook guess what, sehun my best friend asked me. You know am not good at guessing so just tell me what it is. The annual selection of new royal guard is starting next week. I know it has been your dream to be a royal guard so I signed you up for it, sehun said.
I was shocked but at the same time I was happy. I have always wanted to be a palace guard so that I could guard the prince but also because I needed the money to take care of my uncle. My uncle is the only family I have, I don't know my parents because I was a child when my uncle picked me up beside a river. He told me the only thing he saw with me was a necklace with a dragon symbol on it. I want to believe I was left by the side of the river for a purpose and not because my parents were trying to get rid of me.
Jungkook! Jungkook! Sehun shouted mi name. Hmm what. I have been calling you for the past minute, are you ok? Sehun asked with a concern face. Yea I just got lost in my thoughts. So when exactly is it starting, I ask sehun. By this time next week, he replied.
Ok thanks. I have to go and inform uncle so that I can start preparing for it. I will talk to you later ok? No problem, he replied. I  then ran home.
When I got home, I saw my uncle in his room lying on his bed looking weak. Uncle are you ok? I asked him. Yes just feeling a bit week right now but I will be up and running once I get enough rest, he replied.
I knew he was not telling the truth but I didn't say anything. I knew he needed his medicine but we don't have enough money to buy them. That's why I really wanted to be a palace guard so that I can earn the money to take care of him.
I decided to tell him the news. Uncle, the annual selection of royal palace guard is starting next week and I have already registered for it. I will be leaving next week to start the competition and hopefully I get chosen to be among the palace guards this time.
Jungkook are you sure you are ready for this, it not easy being a palace guard and I don't want you to get disappointed if you are not chosen, my uncle replied. I know and I promise I am ready and will do you proud. Ok if you say so I will not stop you. I give you my blessings. Thanks uncle. I promise I will do you proud.

One week later
Today is the day I leave for the selection. I am about leaving. Uncle, am on my way going, make sure to take care of your self and don't worry Sehun will come and check up on you every day. Jungkook don't worry about me, I will be alright, my uncle said. Bye.
On my way to the palace, I kept thinking, what if am not strong enough for this, what if I don't get selected. I have really got to stop with all these negative thoughts in my head. I can do it, I kept repeating in my head.

3 hours later
Wow, the palace is so big. The palace was crowded with a lot of young men. Many were very fit and looked ready for anything. I felt a bit odd as I felt as if I didn't fit in. My thoughts were cut off by a man in a unique uniform with green color with a powerful voice. He was tall and very handsome.
I am Kim Namjoon. I will be one of the judges for this selection. This competition will test your skill, strength , brain and agility, he said. His name felt familiar but I couldn't place where I have heard it from before. Firstly, you will be tested on your physical combat, then your sword skill, then your ability to get out of difficult situations and lastly your stamina. It's not going to be an easy task so if you are not up to the task, it's not too late to turn back now cause once you begin, you can't give up till the end.
No one made a move, so he smiled and continued. With that being said, go and prepare, the competition starts in 2 hours time.
