This is how it started. With a door. An imposing wooden door that I should've been used to by now. Yet, this time I hesitated before walking in. I don't know why. It's not like it was a the start of a new school year, or I just got back from break. Hell, it was a Tuesday in November, but I was afraid. Afraid to walk through the doors of Wolfhille Junior High. I walked in.

Homeroom was boringly usual. I walked in about 10 minutes late as always, my sweatshirt pulled tightly around my bony chest. I quickly sat in a chair near the back corner and opened my laptop with swarms of people talking around me, their various conversations blending into an annoying buzz. Software Updates Available. Yeah right. Remind me tomorrow. I opened a doc titled New Short Story and began to write. The words seemed to flood out of my brain through my fingers and onto the page. The bell rang, breaking me out of my trance. I headed off to first period.
