"Grr, I'll get you one day,"growled the pup as she pounced on to a fawn. But the fawn heard it coming, she ran away from the ferocious pup that was yearning for some tasty, fresh lunch.
" COYOTE PUP!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!!"
The pup had just realized she wandered away from the coyote hunting pack, "Why does my curiosity always get me into trouble?" murmured the pup as she stumbled over to her mom. But even she knew that the curiosity of a coyote her age was very dangerous."Yes Mama?" mumbled the pup to her mom.
"This is the last time I'm going to tell you," the mother coyote breathed in as the other coyotes were looking at what all the commotion was about," You are in big troub-" Click! BANG! It all happened so fast the pack didn't know what happened, all was silent, except for a laugh.
This was the first time the pack ever saw a human. All of their noses twitched in disgust at the stench of the beastly creature of smoke that was now, by the smell of it, behind the bushes. Smoke rose into the air by one breath.
"Everyone get your pups and find a hiding spot and if you need to go out of the forest you are permitted, it's not safe anymore with the humans going around building towns in our territory," growled the alpha male of the pack.
"But where will we go?" barked a loud female voice," We've lived here our whole lives".
The alpha male had no time to answer this question. Click! BANG! By the time the human, Zain Crooke, the world famous deer hunter reached the pack, the coyotes noticed that coyote pup was on the run.
As the two alphas growled and barked at the hunter to get the attention away from the rest of the pack. The pup's mom followed the coyote pup so she can protect her child.
"Ohh your mine NOW!" cackled Crooke. The female alpha tried to tackle his legs to drive him off balance but she was too late. Click! BANG!!! The coyote lay as if she was sleeping, but every coyote knew she was dead. Every coyote, except for coyote pup.
Pants of a coyote echoed in the trees. The pup had found a hole to hide in but she would get found soon. She heard footsteps but not one of a human's shoes but one of a canine, a coyote, her mom.
"What are you doing here honey?" whispered the mother coyote. "Don't go running off like that, okay?" The pup tried to nod but fear filled her fluffy face.
The hunter was in a bush and ready to shoot his rifle at one of them. "MAMA, THE HUNTER! HE'S BEHIND YOU!" barked the coyote pup as quietly as she could. The mom coyote turned around, she barked and growled. She ran straight at the hunter to distract him away from her only child.
The canine ran in circles and zigzagged around trees and bushes. She jumped over a bush that was taller than her. As she jumped she realized what was on the other side. She scratched a rock trying to keep her grip on the cliffside.
She knew it was the end of her. But she still held on. SQUEAK! The sound of her own claw hurt her so much.
She was slipping off of the cliff. Gasping for a sight of land that wasn't the ledge. She could hear the sound of the hunter's shoes. SWISH! A net seized the hurt coyote, but brought her to safety thought the mother, but the thought of the canine was wrong.
The hunter whistled, " Ohh you're gonna gimme a fortune if you're alive, but I don't want you alive, I WANT YOU DEAD!" Click! BANG! This was the third and last time the young female coyote heard the terrible sound. All the birds flew out of the forest at this sight and noise. As the light faded away from her eyes she was put in a sack with the words, TURNING INTO ANIMAL HIDE.
An hour later the pup that used to be yearning for tasty, fresh lunch was just yearning for her mother. She didn't see her anywhere. All she saw were the dead bodies of other coyotes.
She ran back to where she had smelt the hunter and there they were, The two alphas lay dead holding paws. She didn't see them but she could smell and hear them, the pack was alive, but for once she was afraid of her own pack. She ran into the bushes where she camouflaged in with the roots and dirt.
"All coyotes assemble," barked a familiar voice then something that only the pup's ears could catch, "Every coyote who is still here that is. We have lost the two alphas, and my wife!" The coyote began to whimper. "Now that we've lost both alphas and one beta, I'm incharge. I'm the last hope we have of a leader, except my pup, she has beta blood."
As the coyotes were about to go back to their den after the long day, a butterfly appeared. The pup could not hold back feeling, she growled at the butterfly that had thin large wings, they were beautiful. She pounced at the butterfly. Slapped its wing which made it droop lower and lower each flap. It's only an instinct for coyotes when they are scared to pounce on anything that they want to hurt. And at this moment the pup didn't have any other emotions but fear.
The older coyotes noticed the movement in the bush. The pup lay still hoping that they would forget what they saw, but one coyote pulled her out and put her on the stone floor. The pup was shaking on the cold, hard cobblestone sheet in the cave.
"It's okay little pup, we won't hurt you," yipped a friendly coyote. The pup whimpered and whined. "I'll take you in little one," said the friendly coyote again. "
YOU!! SHE'S MY PUP!!" howled the familiar coyote as he pounced on the friendly coyote. Everyone knew that betas were the best at hunting and fighting after the alphas but in this pack, everything was different. The friendly female canine was the best hunter and fighter in the pack but the savage male believed only in how other packs worked, not how this particular pack works. The female went for the jaw than the nose. The male went for the mouth and the tail.
The fight went on, no one tried to help. It's against the Law of the Coyote© to assist another coyote in battle against a coyote of your pack.
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" barked the male as he scratched the female's paw pad.
"THEN WHY ARE YOU DOING IT!! WE ARE IN THE SAME PACK!! THE PUP NEEDS A MOM, NOT A SELFISH DAD LIKE YOU, THINKING YOUR SO SPECIAL JUST BECAUSE YOUR A BETA COYOTE!!!" replied the female in a more vicious bark than the male.
She tackled him and bit him on the nose. She scratched his ear and bit the other one. All the coyotes including the pup and the male could tell that the female didn't want to do this, she didn't want to hurt her brother, but she had to do what had to be done.
"I NEVER NEEDED TO HAVE BETA BLOOD IN ME OR ALPHA BLOOD! I DIDN'T PRETEND LIKE I WAS A BETA WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I DIDN'T GET MARRIED TO A BETA, TO BECOME A BETA!" Then the vicious female went for the throat. The last beta was dead because of his own kind, his own sister.
The female turned to face the rest of the pack. She saw coyote pup slowly walking backwards. " It's okay, you don't have to worry, I won't attack you like I did to him," whimpered the female coyote as she turned her head to face the dead coyote.
