After Michael and Isla go through the process of coming into the country and get their money changed, they get a cab to go to the office.
"It's closed." Isla notices. "What day is it?"
"Sunday I think." Isla sighs.
"What now?" Michael looks around. It's in a pretty nice area.
"We look for someplace to stay. Until—"
"Until what? Until we get a house? Do you really think we'll be here that long?" Michael sighs.
"I don't know love. I don't know." The two get back in the cab and they are taken to a hotel. Michael pays the man and the two grab their bags and get out of the cab.
"Wow. I've never seen buildings so tall Michael." Isla exclaims. She has to hold her hat onto her head as she looks up to the top of the buildings. Michael is in awe himself. The two go inside and to the front desk.
"Hi. Welcome to the Aberdeen Hotel. How may I be of service?"
"We'd like a room." Michael says.
"Would you like a hotel room or an apartment room?" Michael and Isla look at each other.
"Apartment." Michael answers. She smiles.
"Lovely. It's going to be about 1,200 a month—" Michael slams down $2,400 on the desk.
"Two months." He says.
"Right. Ok. Great."
'Good God that was hot.' Isla thinks to herself.
"Name?"
"Michael Gray." She looks at Isla.
"Isla Jesus. I-S-L-A."
"Isla—"
"Jesus. Yes. Like the good Lord Jesus Christ." She writes it down and grabs a key.
"You'll be in room 325." She hands Michael the key. "Enjoy your stay." The two take the elevator to the third floor and look for their room. Michael opens the door and the two step inside.
"It's not bad." Isla says looking around as she drops her bags.
"You want to call your father?" Isla shakes her head and looks out the window to see the bustle of cars and people. "You want anything at all?" She shakes her head again.
"What do we do Michael?" She sniffles. Michael walks up behind her and wraps his arm around her and kisses her neck.
"We'll rest today and go to the office tomorrow and take it from there." Michael turns her around. "This is it Isla. Our new life." Her eyes well up. "It could be worse... we could be dead."
"Horrible optimism Michael." Isla chuckles.
"We're in America Isla. We're in fucking America. Can you believe it?"
