The Beach

My name is Liam. I met this cute girl and her friends at Starbucks last night, we actually go to the same school. I think her name was Raia. Wow, that's such a beautiful name. I can't wait for the beach tomorrow. I'm going surfing with my bud Allen. We both absolutely love surfing. We're also both on the surf team. I'm going to tell him about that cute girl I met. she texted me earlier so I added her as a contact.

Hey Allen, I met three cute girls at Starbucks today.

-Liam

Cool. Do they go to Heatherfield? -Allen

Yeah, all three were 17. I think their names were Kayla, Ally, and I know that one was Raia. I like that name.

-Liam

Ooh, someone's got a crush! -Allen

Do not! I just liked her name, so I remembered it! -Liam

Wow, you're arguing like a third grader. So what if you have a crush on her! As long as she isn't a dump. -Allen

Ok, whatever. Lets drop the topic. Are you ready for the beach tomorrow? -Liam

Yeah, I'm gonna get there early so we can get the spot by the water. You know how crowded it gets right after school is out. -Allen

I'm really excited. I just moved here, so maybe I can get a girlfriend in time for school. -Liam

What, so you don't seem like such a loner? You've only got one friend! -Allen

Yeah, but I just moved here. I'm probably gonna be the most popular kid in school once I make the football team. -Liam

Who says you're gonna make the football team anyway?

-Allen

Whatever, I've gotta go. See ya tomorrow! -Liam

I thought about Raia for a while. She was so different....

I got to the beach and saw Allen's stuff in a pile on a picnic table. Aww man, he beat me to the water! I grabbed my board and raced out. I tried to catch up to him but he was pretty far out. All of sudden, I spotted a big wave coming and Allen was already on it. I got up just in time to catch it, making my way over to him.

"You beat me here!" I yelled. He didn't hear me. I yelled again, "You beat me here!!" "Stop distracting me!!!" he yelled back.

Whatever. I think I see Raia and her friends over there near our stuff! Aw man, How didn't I notice them? I squint to try and see who it is, I'm not 100% sure its Raia.... SPLASH!!! I fell off my board! Oh, this is embarassing. I fell off because of Raia and I barely even knew her! I guess I can get to know her a little bit better now. I swam back to shore, when I got a little bit closer I could tell it was Raia. I went and put my board away, pretending not to notice them.

"Hey... are you Liam?" Ally called. "Uhh, Yeah...?" I replied. "Come over! Don't be shy!" Ally said. "Yeah, we don't bite!" Kayla cooed. "Umm, hey!" Raia called. She seemed so different from her friends, very reserved. That's kinda weird considering how... rambunctious(?) her friends were. I don't know if that's the right word, I can't really think of a single word to describe them. Whatever. I say "whatever" a lot. Whatever.

We talked for a while, then I got bored and said I had to go. Our tables were pretty close together but they wouldn't be able to see me. I didn't actually have to go, I just felt nervous. I went back to our picnic table and looked in the cooler. I forgot to eat breakfast this morning so I wanted to get some watermelon or something. He didn't bring anything good so I decided to go to the snack bar instead. Not much there, either. Our town is pretty small, so there probably isn't much money put into the snack bar at the beach. Oh

well, a corn dog will be good enough. After I ate, I met up with Allen at our stuff. He was an avid surfer, I guess he should be considering he's on the surf team. I was on the the surf team in my old town, so I'm still good, but I'm more into football now.

"Ive got to go" Allen said, "My mom needs me to babysit my little sister." "Ok", I said,"I'd better be going too." I said. "See ya later!" we both said in unison as he left. We always do that, it's not on purpose.

I walked home and decided to text Raia.

Hey, did you have fun at the beach today? -Liam

Umm, yeah. I didn't know you would be there. -Raia
