You weren't in my class.
We had one class together.
Woodshop.
We were friends,
in the beginning of the year.
For a short while, though.
We hung out but eventually,
the group of boys ditched the girls.
Yes, we were upset.
We were all friends since preschool,
or kindergarten, for crying out loud!
And you boys just kind of
left
without any notice.
A couple months later,
we got over it.
We all forgot eachother.
A couple months later,
you had a girlfriend.
Her name was Eli.
I knew her.
I think I was happy for you.
But it didnt last long.
You broke up.
But as an unexpected turn of events,
the boys turned on eachother.
Their group split into two.
The group of girls defended your group -you and a couple other boys.
When summer started,
the first bonfire was held.
At my house.
Just the girls, and half of the boys.
13 of us all together.
We sat by the fire.
Someone mentioned our tradition,
"Dare Dare Hug Edition"
So we played.
The first hug was my friend and her boyfriend.
Me and you were the second hug.
You were playing with a chicken decoration,
and I got up.
I called your name,
walked up to you,
and we hugged.
I didnt mind that you were shorter than me.
You were a good hugger.
It kept going.
It was funny though,
my bestfriend, Orky, declined to hug anyone.
Well, she hugged me.
I just thought that was funny.
I dont know why.
I was also happy because I said for my bestfriend, Marly, to hug her crush!
And she did.
She acted as if she hated me for that.
I know she loved me for that.
There was talk that you wanted to ask me out.
Someone said "He wants to ask you out! Do you say yes or no?"
I stayed silent.
I didnt answer.
"Well are you gonna answer the question?"
I replied, "No, I won't answer your question."
The truth is, I wouldnt respond.
Because I know he didn't want to.
He didn't even say the words.
I only respond to those questions if they are said,
right from the mouth of the person that wants me.
Which he did not do.
I didn't mind.
Atleast I didn't think I did.
But I was wrong.
The next day we were all at the park.
Your friends kept saying to you,
"Sorry, she said no."
I didnt say anything.
It was bothering me,
so later that night I messaged you,
I told you not to worry.
I said that I never said anything and that your friends were just making things up.
I asked if you actually wanted to date me.
You said,
"I do. But I wanted to wait for a good time. Everyone just kept pushing it."
I smiled like an idiot.
It just happened, then.
"Is it weird to ask you out over chat?"
I didnt mind. I said,
"Not at all."
And you asked me,
and I said yes.
And everyone found out even though neither of us said a word about it.
You left for California 3 days later.
I missed you like crazy.
You got me a necklace.
A blue and white jeweled dolphin.
A few days later,
this boy had a birthday pool party.
When I arrived, so did you.
I was so surprised,
We all went in and it was quite boring in the beginning.
The girls talked to eachother and then the boys talked to eachother.
Eventually, we all went to the pool.
It was fun.
We played "Colors" and one of the boys got a bloody nose.
People start jumping into the pool and you joined.
I didnt because I didnt want my swimsuit to fall off.
We all swam for 2 hours.
It was 10 o'clock and I had to go home.
You still didnt give me my necklace.
I was freezing cold.
My phone rang and my mom said she was here to pick me up.
I said "Bye Guys" and was about to leave.
You came up to me.
You said my name,
and you gave me a necklace.
I was a carrot and only said thank you.
I shouldve hugged you.
We didnt talk for 4 days after that.
I left for a trip to Europe for a month, a week later.
