I went on my day as usual: went to class, read books in the library, ate lunch, etc. By the time the last bell rang, I immediately ran to the exit to meet up with Owen. I was waiting outside, looking at my phone and seeing if he had texted me. When I looked up and notice a group of boys heading over to me, they looked like Owen's friends. I wanted to sink, to run, but I knew they wouldn't leave me alone.
I took a deep breath and put away my phone and watched them getting closer, starting to form a circle around me.
"Is it that time?" I asked them.
"Oh yeah, and we're starting without Owen. I would say consider to be lucky, but there's no such thing as luck." One of them said.
Then two of the boys held my arms and they started punching my stomach and face. The pain wasn't abnormal, but it didn't hurt either. I laid on the ground as they kicked me, my glasses getting broken even more. at this point, I didn't care; I wanted it to stop. I covered my head and closed my eyes as they continued until...
I opened them to see Owen standing in front of me, facing away and to the group of boys.
"What the hell did I tell you?" He asked them.
"Oh come on Owen, he was-"
Owen punched the kid who objected him.
"I don't care what the fuck he was doing!I told you if anyone was going to beat him up first it would be me, you got it!?"
"But dude-"
"I don't give a shit who you are! He's MINE to handle, YOU don't get to do shit!"
They looked at him, some whispering to each other. I sat up slowly, coughing and looking at Owen. Even acting like a tough guy, I could tell he still cares.
"Alright, we won't do it again without you, damn."
"No. You won't...Because if I see anyone of you going after him without my say so...I'll kill you."
His friends looked at each other timidly, then walking away. I stood up, he faced away from me still, but his eyes were visible. He had them closed, which meant he was thinking or trying not to lose it.
"O-owen...?"
"You okay...?" He said, his eyes still closed.
"Y-yeah...I think so..." I said, looking for the broken lens of my glasses.
"Here." He opened his bag and pulled out a pair of eyeglasses.
"Where did you-"
"I found some, give them a try." He interrupted, handing me the glasses.
"I'm sorry..." I took them carefully and put them on.
"For what?"
"For ruining your reputation..."
"Hey, you didn't do shit. Besides, they ain't worth the time."
He looked at me, his Emerald eyes seem to glow. I felt my cheeks heat up and I looked away.
"Let's see if the nurse is still around. Come on..."
He headed inside and I hesitated, why did he save me if it meant to lose his reputation? I thought he cared more about that than anything...
"Hey, shrimp, you coming?" He yelled.
"U-uh Yeah! Sorry!" I quickly ran over to him and we head inside. The nurse put a band-aid on my temple and chin, the others as she claimed needed time to heal. I got up and walked out of the office, Owen was outside. He was leaning back, his eyes closed again and his legs were stretched out, crossing at the ankles. His arms were folded as well and the way his face was seemed relieved.
