~The Change~

Lukas' POV:

"Lukas J. Fiori, you tell me this instant what happened!"

I look up from the pup lying still in the infirmary bed to my mate who stands, hands on her hips glaring.

"Sit down my love."

She wearily takes a seat and once she's comfortable I begin retelling the previous events that led up to this very moment. By the end, she is crying and I immediately take her in my arms. It physically hurts to see her upset.

"So what did he do to her?"

We both look over at Erin who's skin has turned quite pale.

"Doc says that she's changing." I tell her solemnly.

She stares at me, shaking her head so fast it looked like she was trying to erase the very thought from her head.

"No..."

"He tried to turn her." Her loud gasp fills the still room.

"But that could kill her!"

"As of now, it is...slowly and painfully."

Her sobs fill the silence. I hug her close trying to soothe her cries.

"What do we do?" The despair in her voice breaks my heart to hear.

Gazing over at the pup who has worked her way into our hearts, I answer my mate softly for fear of upsetting her again.

"We wait."

Turns out we didn't have to wait long.

Erin's screams had us running to her side. Her spine was bent awkwardly as she clawed the bed leaving tear marks behind. Her voice grew hoarse as she continued to wail. A frantic Bella ran for the coven doctor but as she reached the door, the pups screams cut off as her body fell back on the bed.

Silence.

My mate covers her mouth her hands visibly shaking.

"No...no...No. She can't be-"

Erin's eyes snap open causing my mate and I to gasp. Clutching her ice cold hand I call her name.

"Erin...Erin!"

A sound rumbles from her chest that sounds like a hiss/growl. I continue calling her name but she stares off blankly. Arabella stands stuttering, creeping slowly closer.

"What- How- W-W- I-I don't understand?"

Erin's eyes look glazed over. I continue calling her trying to coax her back to us.

"What is wrong with her?"

The pups eyes focus and her head snaps to where Bella is standing. She bares her fangs, confirming she transitioned and the vampire scientist successfully changed her.

The first vamp/wolf hybrid.

Bella steps back in shock as Erin hisses at her threateningly.

"Nothing is wrong with me!" She roars. Her voice is deep and gravelly and nothing like the one we were naively getting used to.

I reach out to touch her shoulder but she's already at the window throwing herself out of it.

"Erin...No!!"

I reach the window in time to see her touch the ground and sprint off into the woods.

It's been days since the incident. I have sent my best trackers after her with no luck in finding her.
