what the fuck is going on? why am i feeling this way?
❦
the cold night air blew gently across the grass as jooheon lay beside the river bank, expression blank as he thought back to his past.
his family used to always come to this river bank to have a short picnic here, but not so much anymore. i guess it's kinda hard to have a family picnic when the family isn't whole, jooheon thought.
at age nine, jooheon had experienced first hand how it felt like to lose both his father and mother on the same day — just a few days before his tenth birthday.
jooheon believed that he must have been hated if he had been forced to care for his younger brother and himself following the loss of their parents without any guidance or care, that was until their aunt took it upon herself to finish raising the two boys.
his aunt had always been a nagging woman, but he loved her just the same. finalizing his thoughts, jooheon stands from where he was laying and begins to aimlessly walk the streets, not having a true destination in mind.

the rumbling sound emanating from his stomach interrupted the quiet atmosphere. feeling a little sheepish at the loudness of the sound, jooheon began to make his way towards a corner store, secretly hoping that it was open considering that it was midnight.
i hope they're still open, if not, imma be fuckin' pissed.
pushing the door of the corner store open, jooheon not only sighed in relief at the lack of people in the store, but also at the feeling of warmth that washed over him as he browsed the aisles for snacks.
carrying a pack of beer, a bag of honey buddha chips, and some pepero in his arms, jooheon makes his way over to the cash register where an extremely bored looking teen stands, nose stuck in the latest issue about a certain celebrities' scandal with a costar.
clearing his throat, jooheon seems to get the attention of the young teen and motions towards the items he had put on the counter. muttering a quiet 'thank you' once he collects his items from the cashier, jooheon turns around to swiftly walk out of the store. he hoped that if he was fast enough, he could make it home just in time before his little brother started to chew his ass out for not respecting curfew although jooheon was older by approximately five years and didn't need a curfew.
but sadly, his escape wasn't as swift as he planned for he had bumped into a small figure. hearing a small 'oof', he noticed that the person he bumped into had fallen onto their bum with their legs extended, a clear sign that they were quite disoriented from the fall.
as he lifts up the, what seems to be, girl while mutterimg apologies, jooheon takes notice to how invested the girl's focus is on his hands as they remained clasped together.
"i'm really sorry I knocked into ya girl, I just wasn't paying attention, and that's my own fault."
as jooheon had addressed the figure in front of him as a woman, he noticed how their nose seemingly scrunched and eyebrows furrowed.
"actually," the 'girl' started off, their pink lips formed a pout as their gaze traveled to the white heels they wore. whatever jooheon expected what the person he bumped into sounded like was far from the actual deep, yet silk-like voice they possessed.
"I should be the one to apologize," the person paused and took a look at jooheon's puzzled expression before continuing what they had to say.
"i'm actually a dude," the, now identified as, male said as he flattened the front of the dress he wore using the hand that wasn't clasped with jooheon's.
"the name's changkyun!" changkyun said with a smile as a pink tinge covered his cheeks, whether it be from the cold or jooheon's presence, he just couldn't tell.
jooheon looks blankly at the boy before shaking changkyun's hand tenderly, wondering how changkyun could possibly look so beautiful in women's clothing.
"jooheon." there was something about the cute boy in front of him that gave jooheon a new type of feeling. and it didn't help that changkyun kept glancing at their clasped hands with a look of fondness in his eyes.
"hey jooheon? you seem like a cool guy, maybe we should hang out some time, become friends or something, you know?"
jooheon didn't know. he was too flustered to think of a proper response for the cute boy. so instead of giving a definite answer, he passed his phone to changkyun and told him to put his number in, reasoning that if they're going to be friends, then they have to have a way to contact each other at least.
handing back the phone, changkyun gives jooheon a cute eye-smile before walking away from jooheon saying that he should probably be getting back to his friend.
with one last look at the cute boy in a white floral patterned dress, jooheon makes his way out of the corner store, a small smile on his face as he thought back to changkyun's cute smile.
how can someone be that cute? it should be illegal to be that cute. wah, that boy is doing something to my heart.
