Khal's POV
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my lifeIn the meadow, I lay comfortably listening to one of my favorite songs. It is such a wonderful day today. Not too sunny and not too humid. Blue skies and the ever omnipresent fluffy clouds are in the sky. Days like this is what I like the most, I especially like watching the flowers and grasses sway as the gentle breeze passes by.
I lay there comfortably when my ears picked up a rustling sound three feet away from me. It may appear faint to others but to me it isn't. I sniff the air and a smile broke out from my lips. I slowly turn, lying on my stomach and turn the down the volume of my speaker. I didn't move a muscle and peeked through the blades of grass and flower stems. Waiting for my guest to appear. The rustling continues and soon enough, two pointy ears appeared and hopped. Both have the a golden brown fur. They're being very cautious with their big black round eyes and with nose twitching here and there. I couldn't help but stifle a laugh. They're so cute!
Oops! wrong move. The bunnies hurriedly hopped until they disappear. Well, not really, I could still see them clearly from where I'm at, but I made no effort to go and chase them. I wouldn't want to scare those poor animals.
Instead, I lay back down, turn the volume just a little bit up and closed my eyes.
"KHALEEEENNN"
My eyes snapped open and I bolted upright. The once bright sky slowly turns into crimson, that changes into soft pink before turning into a purple hue signaling twilight. I quickly gathered my things. Folding the blanket neatly and swiftly, grabbed my Mp3 which was attached to the speaker and ran towards the voice that was calling me.
I swiftly move into forest that was slowly enveloped in darkness leaving the meadow behind. I ran deeper into it pushing my legs as fast as I can while evading some wild animals along the way that hunts into the night.
"KHALLLLLLL"
"Coming" I mumbled.
Without breaking a sweat, I arrived in the middle of the forest where a small comfy looking house stood still.
"Hey honey! can you help me up here?" I heard my dad's voice from upstairs as soon as I entered the house.
I put my things on top of the drawer near the front door, then, hurriedly climbed the stairs and walked towards my dad's room.
"Okkaaayyy----what are you wearing dad?"
"Do I look good? I have a dinner with old man Joe and company tonight. So, what do you think?"
Giggling I walked towards him and took the bow tie off him. "Dad, bow ties don't work with jeans. You'll suffocate if close all the buttons up to your neck . unbutton at least too" He rolled his eyes when I said so making me snicker.
"Nah--ah! Lose the leather jacket. If you wear that you'll be sweating like a pig, considering how high your body temperature is. Lastly, let's roll the sleeves of your shirt now. There..that's better" I tapped his shoulders as soon as I was done and made him look at his reflection.
"Not bad aye?"
He made a face as he appraised his looks in the mirror. He tapped my cheek and smiled "Thanks sweetie"
"Anytime dad"
"Sorry you'll have to eat dinner by yourself tonight"
"It's cool. I'll just cook the spare ribs tomorrow for dinner and eat at my work place today"
He sighed "I might be home late as well. You know lot of catching up to do and some stuff to talk about"
"No problem. I can extend my shift in my part time job and work on my paper tonight"
From the look on his face that troubles him. "Sweetie, this is supposed to be the time where you'll have fun and go out since I won't be home until later."
I scoffed. "Dad, money and homework are two necessary things on my list that I need to work on. Sadly, hanging out is not on the list."
"More like not an option" he grumbled.
"It's not on the list! So don't worry about a thing. Besides, Joe is already here."
"I do worry. It's my job and besides, Joe is not yet here"
I smirked and tapped my ear.
He shook his head. "Right, right, right. Why do I always forget"
I walked out of the bedroom and went into mine. I quickly changed my clothes into a pair of jeans, a grey baggy hoodie, and sneakers. As for my hair,I tied it into a bun. I grabbed my cross body bag on the chair and put it on. My alarm clock says 6:30 P.M. when I looked at it on my way out. I hurriedly went downstairs and walked out of the house.
"Don't do anything reckless and please be careful" He said the moment I stood beside him.
"Geez dad, I'm never reckless"
"I know but you know what I mean." He sighed "Come here" And hugged me awkwardly to the side and kissed my temple. "How's your waist?"
"It's fine. It doesn't hurt anymore----Joe's here"
"Don't change the topic."
"Am not besides you can hear him with all your super hearing and all that" I winked and gave him a sheepish smile.
The sound of the engine echoed through the quiet forest then stopped just 5 feet away from our house. Joe, a man in his early 70's go out of the car followed by a man who I think is a bit older than my dad, they walked over to us.
" Hey Ed! Hey Khal! How's your waist?" Joe greeted as he hugged me.
"Eavesdropping on a father - daughter conversation is unbecoming of you Joe"
Joe laugh good-naturedly and hold me at arms length "I can't help it. Wolf senses ya know. Besides, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Gramps?"
"Like a gazillion times. " I laughed. "Anyways, I have to go---part time job and all. Enjoy you guys!"
"Wait, Khal, let me introduce to you this man here. This is Ted. Ted, my daughter Khaleen"
"Hi Khaleen. Nice to finally meet you"
I shook his offered hand. "Hello. Nice to meet you too. Sorry, I can't stay any longer."
"No worries. Would you like us to drop you off. It's already dark on the road" Ted offered.
"No, thank you. I'm good." I turned to my dad gave him a hug "Bye, dad. Bye Gramps."
"Maybe, we should buy you a cellphone so I can pick you up." He muttered.
"No need and its utterly unnecessary." I gave him a look which meant business and started walking towards the same path Joe and Ted took.
"How would she know I'm there to pick her up when she doesn't even have a phone?" when I was like 1 kilometer away I heard my dad asked someone, maybe he was talking to Ted or Gramps.
I can still hear you know. So, in the end I simply said. "Just howl"
