Rose
Another day in the Farm. Standing in the warm evening breeze. The corn plants are waving in the wind greeting me. Dad goes to plant the corn seeds for the next summer, while I give Scruffs a bath. Scruffs is adorable but a messy mess, he needs to be given bath almost twice a week, that's like a headache for such a naughty dog.

I have skills, Jacob has no chance in winning in a fight because, I punch him if he gets to annoying ,and of course for riding Bella( My obedient horse). After I'm done with my chores, I got to my old willow tree where I carved my name and other things going on in head. I like it because it's  far from the farm, it's silent with only birds chirping, and dandelions floating in the soft breeze...It's my silent spot. I sit under the shade of the tree, the leaves keep me cool from the bright sun and hidden from the world. The light from the sun dances through the leaves as the wind gushes by. That's where I take my sketch book to express my wildest imaginations. Most of the time I write about the stories Dad tells us every night before going to bed. My favorite is about a Woman named Delilah, strong and courageous. Always saves the day. She is my hero. Dad ends his story saying, 'She is somewhere out there, waiting to be found.' I  always write about his stories.

As the dusk slowly arrives, the fireflies wake up blinking their little lights. The sun sets  making way for his queen. This is my reminder. I get up and head of to the farm as the fireflies lead my way. I carry my book in one hand and walk back home waving goodbye to my lovely willow tree. Dad, rounds up the corn for dinner and heads inside, he calls out to me "Rose, get in fast, the moths are comin' in. They're gonna' get to the sugar, don't you ask me to get more later." "I'm comin'" I reply, trying to beat his voice. I rush in, Scruffs follow me inside getting all mud in the house. That dog! I go in my room and switch on the lights, I rush in to stick whatever information I got from my brain today.

I run back to the kitchen because, Dad makes the best corn soup, although it gets boring if you have it everyday for dinner. I gobble it up and head to bed waiting for Dad to come and tell me my bedtime story. Sometimes he washed the dishes and that's the time I wonder whether one day, I could go and meet her...Delilah. She sounds so real, maybe Dad knows so much about her, because he must've known her before. Dad knocks on my door.
" May I come in?" asked Dad, peeping his head through the door.
"Dad!" I shouted out with excitement,
"I've got a picture..."
"Of who?
"The one who always saves the day"
"Delilah!?My super hero?"
"You're right, Honey"
His hand was behind his back, he slowly revealed a photo frame that was cracked in the corners. The picture was worn out...it must've been old. I looked at the frame and saw the woman. She was pretty as ever. Blue eyes, Aubrey hair, fair skin that looked so flawless, and pink lips. I looked at dad. He gave me smile.
"Dad can I keep it? Please?" I pleaded with puppy eyes.
"Honey, Daddy also wants to see her. I'll keep it in my room. Whenever you need it ask me, Ok dear?"
I didn't expect that..." Um... Ok Dad."
He was leaving the room.
"Goodnight Rose, sleep well. You have another big day tomorrow." He left, switched of the lights and left me in an un-completed puzzle.

I didn't sleep that night. I was thinking about this entire, the entire night. Suddenly I heard a voice in my head... 'Rose, she can't stay'
'Dad? Dad!'
'What's happening Rose?'
'I-I don't know'

Dad's hiding something.
