Liam's POV

"Payne, Liam."

I gulped and sat nervously on the stool while McGonagall placed the sorting hat on my head.

"Interesting, a muggle born.  No one to live up to, your path is yours to pave.  I don't see ambition in you, but a you have a loving heart.  What's this? A very great mind indeed! I better put you in RAVENCLAW!"

I honestly didn't even know the difference between the houses.  Being from a muggle family, I had no idea what to expect from Hogwarts.

The last few days have been a daze.  A weird woman showed up at my house, saying that she was a witch.  My parents were confused.  She explained the whole secret wizarding world and my potential in it.

Surprisingly enough, they were okay with it.  You could tell that they were surprised, but they accepted it and let me be a part of it.

She brought me to a place called Diagon Alley.  There I exchanged my muggle money for what they call "galleons", "sickles", and "knuts", which is wizard world currency.

I got all my school supplies and on top of that, I got myself an owl.  It was a beautiful barn owl, I decided to name him Merlin.  Lastly, I was brought to a store called Ollivanders.

There I bought a wand made of oak and phoenix core.  It was beautiful, although I had no idea how to use it.

Getting back to the sorting, I think I heard Ravenclaw was the brainy house.  The house of know-it-alls and such.  Great, I just couldn't wait.

We ate, and I made friends with a strange girl named Luna.  She seemed to be off in her own little world.

Later the Ravenclaw prefect, Robert Hilliard, led us to our common room,  "Getting in is tricky, see, you have to answer a riddle worthy of Ravenclaw understanding."

The eagle at the door asked, "What is broken every time it is spoken?"

Robert throught for a moment, "Silence."

"Fair reasoning," the door swung open.

The Ravenclaw Common Room was gorgeous.  A tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw stood tall.  It was breathtaking, really.

I hung out in the Common Room for a while, trying to make friends.  I met Robert's younger brother, John and we decided to share a dorm.

I noticed a guy sitting on a chair, staring into the fire place.  I held my hand to him, "I'm Liam."

"Scott," he didn't even look up to me.  I pulled my hand away awkwardly.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing.  Just thought my sister would be here, my parents are going to be disappointed that she's in Gryffindor."

"Oh. That sucks."

"Yeah," He got up and walked away.

I shrugged it off, clearly the guy was in a bad mood.

I met up with John again and walked to my dorm.

Niall's POV

"Horan, Niall."

Calm down. I told myself. You'll be absolutely fine. You'll be in Slytherin house like Greg.

I walked up to the stool quickly.

"Ah, a Slytherin offspring.  You're brother is one as well, but are you?  You lack the ambition of a Slytherin, but you have a strong heart! HUFFLEPUFF!" the hat said.
