When we got to the parade, I was stunned. I looked over at Shannon, her face was as bright as a star. She looked the happiest I'd ever seen her. Before I could say anything, she grabbed my hand and ran into the crowd. The parade was amazing, there were so many people there. Men, women, kids, I even saw a dog! About halfway through, everyone there gathered and spread an enormous rainbow flag over the entire plaza. We were all having a great time when all of a sudden- BAM! BAM!
It all happened so fast, we all heard the shot and everyone started screaming. By reflex, I ducked down and put my hands over my head. I started to panic. I had to find Shannon.
" SHANNON!"
Looking back, I doubt she could hear me over all the chaos. Right before I was going to stand up and look for her, I saw a small, black car driving away. Two men inside it. The man in the passenger seat, he was holding a gun.
" SOMEONE'S BEEN SHOT!"
I immediately shot up and started running. I wanted to find Shannon and go home. I closed my eyes and prayed to god that she wasn't hurt. I turned a corner and saw dark, curly hair, dark skin and a green T-shirt. She was okay. I ran to her and she hugged me.
" Mikah! You're okay!"
" Shannon, we have to go."
" Wait. Someone was hurt."
" We have to go home."
" Fine."
