The Sun of Remnant glowed brightly that morning. A stunning lake reflected it's rays across the landscape. The expanse rested next to a large cliff, where a large castle-like building sat. The roar of ships could be heard far above, piloting towards the large structure. These ships yielded the Beacon Crest on the sides; two hand-axes accompanied by a small wreath.
Silver stared out of the window towards the horizon. She had been excited, yet bored throughout the entire trip. She and Gray had boarded hours ago with many others, but hadn't seen many entertaining things since. The ship was bustling with conversation and movement as students of Signal Academy, along with many other strangers, were all being escorted to Beacon Academy.
Silver listened occasionally as others walked by, hearing exchanges very similar to each other. She was enthusiastic about this just as much, but she hated how many other people were with them. She was sick of hearing this many people and having nothing to do to occupy herself.
Silver didn't know what to expect that day, so she simply put on her normal gear and packed her bags, as they had been told they would have dorms. She wore a dark grey shirt, a black jacket with white highlights that led to finger-less gloves, skin-tight black pants, and black boots to top it off. The barrel of a sniper protruded from behind her shoulder.
Their bags had been put in the hold, leaving them bored out of their minds on the journey there. Silver never liked talking to many people at once, so she decided to take in the aerial view. She stood there, admiring the image outside, while Gray had gone to find something as to hint their arrival time.
Silver sighed as she pulled out her scroll. The time read 11:56. They'd been on that trip for nearly four hours already. "At least we can see the place now," she thought. She stowed her scroll in her pocket, proceeding to a row of chairs next to the window. She sat, folded her arms, and waited in peace, as the commotion around her continued.
After a few minutes, Gray finally rounded the corner and took a seat next to her. "About five more minutes," he said. "Good," she replied, "I'm bored to tears right now." Gray nodded. "Me too." The two of them were almost always in the same mindset. They had been together from childhood, so it wasn't surprising that they thought and dressed alike.
Like Silver, Gray prepared for the unknown with his normal gear. A dark grey bomber jacket laid over a black shirt, leading down to black pants, which held grey shin guards, and light combat boots. The only color visible was a crimson red handle and a thin grey guard resting behind his shoulder.
After a moment, a loud ringing silenced everyone. A hologram of a woman appeared in nearly every corner and window. The woman wore a white blouse, almost immediately overtaken by a black, waist-high skirt. She also bore a black cape, torn as it neared the bottom and a neon purple radiated from the inside. Her blonde hair tied in a bun, leaving but a few strands near her face. Her glasses did not cover up her serious expression.
"Hello, and welcome to Beacon," the projection said, "My name is Glynda Goodwitch. You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future huntsmen and huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it."
"Duh," Silver said aloud. Gray managed a half smile.
"You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." Another loud ringing signaled the hologram's end.
