Taehyung  pov

I inhale shakily before letting out a deep breath, hands clutching the sides of the toilet. The heaves have stopped but my chest still aches from them.

My eyes are glossy and although I know Jungkook is behind me, my mind can't seem to focus. I can faintly hear the toilet flushing and feel arms gently leading me to the sink to rinse out my mouth.

There's soft murmuring in my ears and a warmth against my back as I'm guided back to the fort and tucked neatly into the comforter. Despite the residual panic within me, my body is exhausted and I feel myself fall into a deep sleep.

...

I wake to the strong smell of coffee, making my nose wrinkle slightly. There's also a savory scent in the air that causes my stomach to growl loudly.

I blink slowly, fully coming to my senses before sitting up and stretching my arms out, the comforter falling from my shoulders. My hands subconsciously go to work, folding the blanket and comforter into neat squares and arranging the pillows on top.

In the midst of fluffing up a pillow, I pause and it drops from my hands. My hands clasp against my mouth as my eyes go wide, the events from last night playing through my head like a film.

"No, no, no..." I begin to mutter, a stunned gasp escaping my lips as I comprehend my situation. I feel my feet instinctively beginning to move forward, ready to run.

But strangely, a part of me stops me from just rushing out of the door and running home as if none of it ever happened. A part of me feels like I shouldn't just leave Jungkook. I had already left him twice before, and leaving without saying goodbye would be selfish.

But what would happen if I did stay? It's not like he'd fall in love with you after that so what's the point

A rustling of sheets breaks me from my reverie, Jungkook sending me a tentative smile from the front of the fort.

"Breakfast is almost ready...are you okay?" His eyes fill with worry, and he takes a step forward while gesturing towards his eyes.

My hand reaches up to touch my face, feeling the familiar wetness of tears I didn't even realize I was shedding.

I let out a small laugh that nearly makes me cringe at how fake it sounds.

"Oh, this. I get teary eyed when I yawn, don't worry about it," I assure, picking up the dropped pillow and placing it neatly by the others. My hands tremble slightly and I clasp them together before facing Jungkook again.

He only eyes me warily, walking from the fort into the kitchen. "Right. You can wash up and then come eat then."

I nod, heading towards the bathroom, my heart pounding. I'm blankly going through the motions as I hurriedly brush my teeth and wash my face, splashing myself with cold water.

I awkwardly make my way into the kitchen, glancing around for a place to sit. Jungkook is at the stove, plating two fried eggs before seeing at me enter.

"Sorry, I think we'll have to sit on the counter since we used the stools for the fort."

I give him a small, curt nod before lifting myself up and onto the counter, accepting a plate of breakfast sausage, toast, and an egg.
