Chapter 3
"Wrong." I said as I threw, yet another, innocent shirt across the room. "UGHHHH."
"Kels, calm down. Damn," Sam yelled from my bed.
"My outfit has to be perfect."
"Well, we've been at your house the whole afternoon and you still haven't picked an outfit. Don't forget I still have to pick one also!" Sam smiled.
"Wait! I got it!" I jumped up quickly and rushed to find what I was looking for.
I grabbed a pink short sleeved shirt, blue short shorts with pink flowers on it. I threw a large cream cardigan over it and paired it all with tights with circles on it. For jewelry, I decided on pink diamond earrings and some gold bangles. I need a place to put my phone, so a light blue purse it was!
I know we are only going to a fair and therefore grabbed a pair of nude cutout boots with a small heel. Fair ready!
Sam picked out her outfit in less than ten minutes. Ah, I wish I could do that. She grabbed her brand new, super cute, sunflower shorts, white off-the-shoulder flowy shirt. She picked out her accessories in five minutes after a long debate between a chunky necklace or two hundred rings. Gotta love her. She finally decided on two long necklaces, and earrings; both gold.
Because it is summer, she decided on a black hat and black circle sunglasses. Her shoes were tan booties.
The fair may be tomorrow, but we try everything on when we pick them out.
"Now that THATS done..." Sam sighed.
"Hey! You know you loved going through that with me!"
Sam laughed and then decided she wanted to watch a movie. It took us another ten minutes to pick out a movie. It was between She's The Man and Magic Mike, both being a Channing Tatum movie.
"She's The Man!" I argued.
"Magic Mike!" Sam replied back.
"She's The Man has Channing Tatum and Amanda Bynes!"
"Oh. She's The Man it is."
Cue my happy dance. She's The Man is my all time favorite movie. That is subject to change when TFIOS movie comes out though. I popped some popcorn and Sam set up thousands of blankets onto the hardwood floor of my bed room so it was nice and soft for us to lay on. My two dogs came running over the minute I set the popcorn on the floor.
"Bad Chico. Bad Peaches." I scolded the two dogs.
They both backed away and laid down next to Sam and I. We all ended up falling asleep about an hour after the movie ended while we were facetiming Connor.
When we woke up it was already 10 in the morning. I sprinted down the stairs after slipping on my favorite pink monster slippers. Sadly, hardwood floors and slippers DO NOT end well. Long story short, when Sam came down, in hysterics, I was sprawled out on the floor holding my leg.
"Dude, your an idiot," Sam said STILL laughing at me.
"And you sound like a hyena. Now help me up gosh damn," I scowled.
Sam came over and grabbed my wrists pulling me up with ease. However staying up was a different story. My ankle really hurt and the minute I stood up I was on my way back to the ground. This time, however, I dragged Sam down with me.
"Call Connor. I can't walk."
Sam immediately stood up and walked away, but not before giving me a rude look which I just returned with a smile. About ten minutes of Sam telling Connor that I'm an over dramatic drama queen (isn't that what being a drama queen means?), she finally hung up the phone and told me Connor would be there in like five minutes max.
I sighed and grabbed my phone and started watching Vines and tweeting ridiculous things like "Ever wondered what it would be like to be a baby kangaroo?"
"Kelsey get up Connor is here!"
I dead panned at Sam. She mumbled something along the lines of "Oh yeah... I forgot" and walked over with Connor trailing behind.
"Well aren't you something? The doctors are gonna look at you like you're an injured psycho," Connor blabbed on about.
I was so confused and when he noticed he pointed at what I was wearing. I looked at my body and realized I was still in my pajamas, which consisted of a oversized men's shirt, I think it's Connor's, that was bought in Vegas and says "I ❤️ Vegas," I have some pajama shorts that show my butt a little and are decorated with penguins and polar bears holding coke bottles. I shrugged and adjusted my self tie dyed PINK socks and reached for Connor's hand.
Sam reluctantly came to my other side and allowed me to use both her's and Connor's shoulders for support. After multiple minutes of me hobbling and grunting, we finally reached the car.
The minute we walked, or in my case hobbled, into the hospital, a kind old lady who looked to be no older than 65 rushed to my side with a wheel chair for me to sit in.
"Oh honey. What's wrong?" she asked while placing her glasses on the bridge of her slightly freckled nose. She quickly tightened the rubber band securing her brown and grey hair back away from her face and straightened out her purple scrubs.
"Today I learned that slippers, hardwood floors, and running don't mix," I laughed and she just smiled, almost knowingly at me.
"Well we aren't too busy so I'll get you into the doctor right away. You're a beautiful girl with a lot of life ahead of you! You don't need to spend any of that time waiting on a doctor. give me two minutes!" she smiled and quickly rushed off to find a doctor.
When she said two minutes, she wasn't kidding. Exactly two minutes later and a doctor was at my ankle giving it a total examination. First he noted that it swelled up the size of a tennis ball and was already pretty badly bruised. He then informed me that, what he was about to do may hurt pretty badly.
I reached for Connor's hand with one hand and Sam's with the other. Shirley, the kind nurse who helped me, played with my hair to relax me and keep me distracted. She asked me multiple questions and even told me I looked like her daughter. I sensed grief and asked about while the doctor prodded my ankle and moved it around.
Every movement of my ankle hurt and I would scream, but Shirley continued to tell me how her daughter died of Leukemia after years of fighting and her sister and what exotic pets she currently had.
"Well Ms. Barns. It looks like you have a broken ankle. That fall must of been pretty bad," he said. I sighed and Sam just started laughing hysterically.
After the doctor gave her a weird look he continued, "we can't get you in for an X-ray for another four days, however what I can do is give you a soft cast and crutches. In the meantime, don't do anything stupid."
The doctor started wrapping it and after about fifteen minutes I was crutching out of there. Before we left all the way, Shirley told us that next time we come to ask for her and she'll help us out.
"We have about an hour till we need to get to the fair, what do you want to do?" Connor asked us.
"ICE CREAM!" we both yelled simultaneously.
Connor nodded, told us he knew just the place, and drove off.
When we got to the location, I admired the decor of the place. The walls were mint green, the benches were a mix of patterns that ranged from black and white stripe to a floral pattern that complimented the walls perfectly along with every pattern in between. The floor was a nice hard wood floor and all the tables were metal. The light fixtures were different old and rustic lights. It was a gorgeous place.
I ordered mint chocolate chip cone, Sam ordered a strawberry cone, and Connor got a rocky road cone. We say down at the light pink and white polka dot booth and enjoyed our ice cream.
An hour later and we were rushing to our car to get to the fair.
