~Olivia’s POV~
I woke up to one of my mom’s customers hovering over me. I sat up quickly, pushing him off of me. He looked pissed. I shrunk back into the corner, my eyes wide.
My mom walked in the room right as he was about to approach me. "Jake, you can’t touch her unless you have another twenty dollars, now pay up or go. Your time is up.” He gave me one last look, putting his pants on and walked out. “Liv, I need you to go give this to someone for me," my mom said, handing me a bag of white powder. "He'll be at the park," she told me as she left my room.
I got up, feeling sore. I shuddered as I remembered last night. I put on my only outfit and rode my longboard to the park. Standing alone in a black hoodie was an older guy looking extremely suspicious. I guessed that must’ve been him. He saw me and waved. I walked over and held out my hand. He handed me a wad of cash and I gave him the cocaine.
I stuffed the money in my pocket and skated back to my house. When I got back I put it all on the counter next to my mom’s ashtray and walked back to my room, pulling out my book and started reading.
“Olivia!!” my mom yelled as she barged into my room. I give her a 'what' look. I haven't spoken since I was eleven.
“There is three thousand dollars here! There’s supposed to be four!” she seethes as she looks at me to explain.
I shrugged, knowing I didn’t take it. The guy must’ve stiffed her.
“Didn't think I wouldn't notice!? I fucking noticed!" she shouted and left my room, slamming the door behind her. I heard her yell something and then few minutes later her boyfriend came in holding a belt.
"You fucked up this time," he says as he walks over to me and slaps me hard. I held my hand onto my cheek, grimacing. "Get on your stomach," he says as he swings his arm back. I did as I was told, knowing it would be worse if I didn’t.
