__

I stirred at the cup of tea waiting for my mother to join me at a local cafe. I decided to talk to her about my decisions I've been making. She'd been rather distant ever since she found out what line of business I decided to take on. It's not like I wanted to strip forever. It was something I was good at. My dream was to own my own hair salon or be one of those celebrity stylists. Go on trips with them and everything.

I looked up once I saw a black purse hit the table. She looked rather unhappy to see me.

"Hey mommy," I smiled and she shot me one back but it soon faded.

"Hi."

She sat down and scooted her chair in. "I've missed you," I admitted.

"Okay why you want me here?" She asked getting straight to the point. I shrugged, "I wanted to talk to you because I feel as if we're falling off with out relationship. You're my mother and you don't have to like everything I do but you will respect my choices.." I informed, "I'm clearly doing everything for a reason.. You just can't seem to grasp that concept."

She cleared her throat, "watch your tone of voice when speaking to me," she spat with her hand up slightly. "I don't need to following in my footsteps I've already told you no good comes out of what you're doing. It's sinister."

"Oh don't you dare try to pull the newborn saint card mama. People have told me your stories and I don't think I'm close to following in your footsteps.. I'm doing well for myself and A'melia no one else is gonna help me take care of her." I shook my head refusing to cry.

"Where's her father?"

"Where's mine?" I snapped looking at her while wiping my teary eyes.

She shook her head slowly, "where is her father?" She asked once more quite sternly.

She knows good and well I hadn't seen Dwayne in years. I hadn't heard from him or anything and the last thing I wanted to do was find him and interrupt A'melia's life. She'd be so hurt and confused.

"I told her he was dead.. I thought he was dead!"

My mom didn't like Dwayne for nothing. No matter how much he kissed her ass, she wasn't having it. He made me feel happy and wholesome in all honesty. But in reality he was bad for me. Many people hated him because he was at the top of all the food chains. He basically ran this city, with him being so powerful I became a target. So I broke up with him once I found out I was pregnant. I couldn't bare putting my daughter in any type of danger. I felt selfish but still so in love. Dwayne understood but after awhile he took a business trip and decided not to come back. From then on I changed my number and continued living life. I heard dozens of rumors he was dead though but I had no clue.

She reached over rubbing the back of my hand, "I now understand and I'm sorry for judging you.. I-I just care so much for you."

"I'm fine mommy I just want us to be closer like back then.."

"Need me to watch Meli?"

I shook my head, "Kentrell wanted to watch her although I'm not too sure anymore."

"What happened?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "he just wants his way and he doesn't get it like that all the time," I sipped at the ice cold tea and smiled at how refreshing it was.

"He's in love with you Wynter."

"Yeah right Kentrell in love with my booty."

She began to laugh and sip at her newly placed water on the table. "That boy has loved you since he's met you when y'all were four-years old."
