Just A Small Break

Chapter 7

It was Friday evening when I got a call from Chris.

"Hey what's up Chris?" I answered surprised.

"Hello Charlotte, how are you doing? Did your tattoo heal well?"

I looked at my shoulder "Yes yes it's beautiful!"

I could hear a soft laugh "Happy to hear that. Well I'm calling because I wanted to ask if you would want to come to the Greek's Pup with a friend? I'm here with a few mates, drinking some beer. We could use some nice company, they're not in the best mood and I'm sure you could lighten it a little?"

I chuckled and looked at Jessica while pointing at the closet. "Yea of course. Just gonna get ready then I'll come"

"Nice! See you soon Charlotte"

I hung up and jumped up and down, ignoring Jessica's confused look.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked.

"Go get ready Jessica we have somewhere to go."

"I've never been here before" whispered Jessica as we were standing in front of the pub.
"Me neither, c'mon let's go in!"

I slowly pushed the door open and was surprised by how many people there were.
Literally no table was free.

I was looking everywhere, trying to find Chris when I suddenly saw someone waving at me from across the room.
It was Chris so Jessica and I walked over to the booth.
He got up and hugged me and introduced himself to Jessica. I looked over to the other two guys and yep I wanted to run away when I realized who sat there.
Connor and Mason from biology! Jessica's crush.

I glanced over to her and felt her hand gripping my arm. She probably was freaking out inside and to be honest I wanted to freak out too.

Connor probably hated me because of my actions last time that's why I was scared to sit on a table with him.

"Sit down Charlotte. What do you wanna drink?" Chris asked and I slid down in the booth, sitting in front of Connor and Jessica in front of Mason.

We told him we wanted a cocktail so he ordered one for us.

"You two are in biology class too right?" Mason started "I'm Mason nice to meet you girls" he greeted us.

I looked over to Connor, waiting for him to say hello but he was on his phone.

Nice! I thought what a nice guy!

Chris came back with our drinks and tapped at Connor's shoulder "We have guests Connor!" said Chris sternly.

Chris sat down and Connor looked up "Oh Hi!" then looked back down on his phone.

"I'm sorry he's in a really bad mood, I think he forgot his manners since his girlfriend cheated on him" Chris laughed

Connor looked up, frowning at Chris then looked back down at his phone.

Mason whispered to Chris "You shouldn't have said that"

Connor then told Mason to stand up so he could get out of the booth. He put his jacket on and left without saying bye.

Jessica gave me a weird stare and I was astonished about how rude a person could be.
Okay his looks were really attractive but his behavior the opposite and I really don't need to deal with somebody like that so I quickly cut him off my list.

"Told you" said Mason while rolling his eyes.
"I really don't know what's wrong with him! I tried to talk to him but he just ignores me and I haven't seen him laugh since what? 4 weeks?" Chris looked kinda sad and to be honest that kinda broke my heart.
He was such a nice person, always laughing, trying to make people happy. He really didn't deserve how Connor treated him! I thought they were best friends!

"Yea since he caught his girlfriend cheating on him" Mason looked at the wall behind me, talking without any expression on his face.

"Oh for real? That must suck" I joined the conversation. Chris gave me the attention and nodded slowly. "Yea, Mason, Connor and I live together and we had another friend living there too, Joseph"
I noticed him pronouncing the had very harshly.

"One night after Connor's shift, he went home and saw his girlfriend and Joseph fucking on the couch." Mason continued.

I glanced over to Jessica, she had a look of disgust on her face but didn't say a word.

"Oh wow! and where were you guys?" I asked softly.

Chris tapped with his fingers on the table, taking a sip of his beer. "Mason and I were on a trip to New york. Connor didn't want to come because he didn't want to leave his girlfriend alone."

"It's ironic isn't it?" Jessica joined "He's being a nice boyfriend, looking out for her then she decides to sleep with Connor's friend. Life really isn't fair sometimes."

I agreed with Jessica "Yea really! And what a prick Joseph is!"

Mason and Chris started to giggle and I caught Chris starring at me, locking our eyes together.
He opened his mouth "You girls are really nice to have as company here."

I smiled at him and he took his beer and finished it. "I'm worried of Connor tho I guess we should go now, you two can join us if you want to"

Jessica and I nodded and I caught Mason smirking at Jessica.

And yep Connor was a mystery to me so hell yea I wanted to get to know the group of friends better. So Jessica and I went home with them.
