"Here is fine," i tell Matt before he enters my driveway. He had just picked me up from work at Fenway Park. It was already 6 p.m. and i was exhausted. We usually made out right about now but i was not feeling it today. But I didn't want to cause any unnecessary drama, so i simply followed along. I put little effort in the kiss, uninterested, it only lasted a few seconds but it seemed like eternity.
"See you tomorrow?" He smiled.
"Yeah," i smile back and get out of the car. As i approach the front door i see a figure looking out the window— my dad. I start to mentally prepare myself as i know what's gonna happen next.
I open the door and sure thing, he was standing right there, arms crossed and a look that said i'm not gonna be allowed to go out anymore.
"It's 6:30," he stated simply.
"Well.... yeah, you know i always come at this time, so what's your problem?" I snap.
"My problem? My problem is that you get off from work at 5, it takes 20 minutes to get home, so you should be arriving before 6. But instead—"
"God, dad, it's just one more hour—"
"Instead, you're making out in the driveway with your new flavor of the month!" He yelled. I was sure that our neighbors heard every word through the thin walls, maybe even my boss at the slushy cart heard.
I stood there in silence, trying to figure out why he was so mad. It wasn't actually because i just got here, i've gotten home at worse times. "Dad, what...." i debated if i should confront him, but then i decided to let it go, i was too tired to fight him. "Okay, it won't happen again, i'm sorry." I head to my room in our one-story house. There were only 4 rooms in total. Me and my sister Maureen shared one, although she was never here because of college, just like my other 4 siblings. My parents' room, the kitchen, and the living room/dining room. It was small but it was all we needed. I fall on my bed, not even thinking that i still needed to shower and do my homework, and my whole body gives in into a deep, much needed sleep.
I wake up to the blaring sound of my alarm. I lazily try to hit the right spot to shut it off. I open my eyes and see a blurry 7:30. Shit. School starts at 8, it takes me 15 minutes to walk there and i'm not even dressed, and I haven't even eaten breakfast. I get up so fast that i get dizzy. I open my small closet and pick out a pair of jeans with a tight black t-shirt. I throw the clothes on, put my converse on and sprint out the door. The weight of my backpack reminded me of something... HOMEWORK. I have first period english, and there was one assignment. To read a chapter of a book and write a reflective paragraph on it.
I start to walk faster, maybe that way i can get there before 8 so i can at least try to write something. Or maybe i'll just have to take an F on an assignment, again.
Patrick's POV
I repeat the names of my classes in my head one more time. English is first. I head down the hallways as everyone else is still gathered around their lockers. Then out of nowhere a girl runs past me, accidentally knocking all the notebooks i was holding in my hand.
"Watch where you're going, damn," i say under my breath. I look up to try to find the girl and to my surprise it was Ellen.
"Jeez, someone's not in a good mood," she smiled as she she kneeled down to help me.
"Sorry," i chuckled. She passed me a few more papers that were on the ground and we finally got up.
