???'s P.O.V.

Klein told me to come over to his lab again. I could barely unwind in the comfort of my apartment without him calling for me for some vapid request. I groaned as I got off my bed, and I walked towards my closet, pulling out a heavy leather jacket and some worn black boots.

I sniffed my t-shirt and wrinkled my nose, the sickly sweet smell of the women in the bar yesterday still lingering. Contemplating on whether or not a change would be worth the trouble, I stretched, my body crackling as I relieved the tension. I snapped my fingers and my clothes changed.

A casual black t-shirt along with black jeans, that hugged to my legs in a comforting way. Sliding on the jacket and pulling my boots on, I let out a sigh as I looked into the mirror, my face unchanged as usual.

The eternal tiredness stayed, as usual, along with the relaxed features. My face was as pale as parchment paper, and my eyes burned with gold, rimmed with long eyelashes. I looked away after a while, my hand reaching up to comb back my hair halfheartedly.

Part of me considered ignoring his call. But I knew his bitching and whining would get worse the longer I delayed, so I wrapped my magic around me and teleported to the front of his house.

"Ugh." I looked disdainfully at the ground, the slushy mess less than pleasant to step through. Rapping the front door 4 times, I leaned back and released my breath, amused as the air escaped my lips as a fog, almost as if I were smoking.

I contemplated turning back to my bad habit of smoking for a while, before the door opened a crack and a familiar face stared back at me.

"Klein." My voice was cold as I addressed him.

"So you did come, huh?" He smiled, his green eyes brightening at my voice, ignoring the tone as he opened the door wider, gesturing me into his house. "After what happened last time, I swore you said you'd never come back again."

I scoffed at his words. "The faster you tell me what you called me here for, the faster I can go back to doing what I was doing before you interrupted me." His eyebrow quirked up, curious.

"And what were you doing?" I gritted my teeth at his mundane pleasantries.

"What did you call me here for, Klein?" He laughed at my prickliness, definitely used to it after the decades we were 'friends.' He closed the door after I entered and strolled into the house, not even looking back to see if I'd follow. I kicked my boots off before following him.

"I've been working on something for the past century or so, which took a considerable amount of trouble." He entered his lab, and took a seat by his desk. "The building of humans hasn't been perfected yet by machine, however-" He paused to gauge my reaction before he delivered the news. "No one said anything about making a human from magical energies."

I kept my face neutral, my heart racing suddenly at what he had said. Impossible. Humans couldn't be made like that. Unless...

"You made one?" My voice nearly cracked as I struggled to keep my composure. He smiled and nodded. "I managed to make one, after my thousandth attempt. Its evolutionary news, one that I plan to keep to myself for a while." I nodded, a strange feeling stabbing at me, trying to catch my attention. Something was about to happen. And I felt sick not knowing exactly what.

"I named my creation an artificial. They are not born from mothers, but rather from a mix of magical energies." He leaned back in his chair and grinned, a faint blush on his cheeks. "My energies with Darius', obviously."
