Rain pours over me, I'm soaked to the bone and shivering in the cold september night, but I don't care. He's there. I know he's there, I can feel him; but as I look around I find myself alone in the darkness of the night.

The wind is picking up as the heart of the storm comes overhead, fallen leaves swirl all around me. Another burst of lightning and illuminates my surroundings and I finally catch sight of him. Ahead of me in the middle of the path He's on his knees in the mud, his long hair sticking to his downcast face.

"Thomas," I whisper, my voice seems lost in the rain and thunder, but as soon as I speak his name he looks up.

He stares at me with such an intense look of guilt and sadness, still watching me he brings his hands to his face as a tremor passes through his body, "Aubrey," he sobs.

I try to go to him, but my body is being pulled farther and farther away. Thomas'. whole body is quaking and I struggle to get away, but I'm not strong enough. My mind is screeching for me to get free, to fight or I'll die, I need him to see me, to help me, to save me. In a desperate attempt to save my life I scream "THOMAS!"

I sit upright in bed, his name still on my lips, my hands still reaching for him. My heart is hammering, and my chest is heaving so hard it feels like I'm going to explode. I try to get ahold of myself, I'm still in my room, I'm safe.

"It was just a dream," I gasp to myself. My shutters slam in the walls again, making me jump, so they're the culprits of my nightmare. I got out of bed and walked over to my window seat, examining the shutters i realized the old latch had finally given out. I grabbed a stray rubber band from my nearby desk and tied the shutters closed.

Thunder shattered the unearthly quiet that had fallen since I had woken up. My eyes wandered over to the woods behind my house, toward the path where my dream had taken place.

Another clap of thunder shook the old shutters, as lightning lit up the night. I gasped in shock, jerking away from the window and crashing to the floor, my heart pounding against my ribs, and his name slipped from my lips, "Thomas."
