I smile and sigh as I shut my phone off;saving the battery life. I plug in earbuds that were connected to my iPod and listened to music as I drifted into a blissful sleep letting darkness fill my world.
"Flight 402 to Maryland will be landing in 10 minutes please buckle your seatbelts"
I opened my eyes to the sun blinding me. I sit up in my seat and rub my eyes. I turn to the person sitting next to me "excuse me ma'am, how long have I been passed out?" I give her a slight smile. "oh sweetie, you've been asleep for 15 hours." My mouth drops. "15?" I repeat with pure shock. She nods nicely at me as she buckled up. I copied her actions as I finally realized the reality.
Hayden dumped me and I left him in Rome. And I'm pregnant with my brothers baby.
I got off the plane and took in the familiar airport I grew up with. I smiled to myself as memories with Caleb and Hayley flooded me. I walked to the belt to pick up my bags as I was looking to see if anyone came to pick me up. I sigh when I find no one there before I turn back to that belt. As I'm putting my bag on the ground I hear a faint "Annie!" In the distance. Curious, I turn around.
My eyes scan the room to find the person that voice belongs to. They finally end on a girl around the age of 13 or 14 in a green soccer uniform. It takes me a while before I recognize her. "Hayley!" I scream as I run over to her. I embrace her in a hug as tears are streaming down my face. "I've missed you so much babe" I stroke her hair as she cries in my shoulder. I mumble I love you into her hair.
I wipe the tears from my face and stand up "where's mom?" I question looking around for her "bathroom" Hayley states shrugging her tiny shoulders. I look at her in awe "you've grown so much girl, your almost taller then me!" I squeal like I was 12 again.
I catch up with Hayley as I wait for mom to show up. We wait for like 5 more minutes before I see her running towards us "girls get down! There's a shooter!" I watch as terror spreads across her face. I duck down with Hayley between my arms. I reach out for my mom
"Bang bang" interrupt my actions. I bend over Hayley with tears in my eyes. I hear Hayley whimpering underneath me. I shield her from all the chaos as another round of bullets breaks through the airport
