"U-uh, Connor?"
Connor snaps back into reality and drags his gaze away from the ceiling. Blinking, he lays his eyes on Evan. Evan Hansen.
"Yeah, Ev?"
"C-could we.. M-maybe w-we could.. U-uh.. Would y-you go.." Evan stutters out, and starts to trail off. He fiddles with his hands. Connor knows why he's anxious, although he can't blame him. The music is loud, there's people everywhere. Connor is itching to leave, he honestly just wants to go home. He would have preferred staying home and putting on some nature documentary (that Evan seems to always get enthralled in) with snacks and fall asleep on the couch.
With Evan. Maybe holding Evan's hand. Maybe even cuddling Eva-Wait-hold up. What were they? They kissed in the orchard once. Or twice. And maybe Connor thought about Evan a lot. Like all the time. And maybe they held hands outside of school and cuddled late at night or were talking to each other over the phone until one fell asleep. Evan always fell asleep first, though. But they had never actually asked the other out. Where they boyfriends?
"Spit it out." Connor snaps, a little harsher than he meant to.
Evan shrinks back, eyes darting everywhere but Connor. He seems to be sweating profusely, and he bites his lip. His breathing has sped up.
Way to go, Connor. He mentally slapped himself."Sorry, sorry Ev. What's up?"
Evan took a deep breath and turned to face him. Connor had to tilt his head down, hence the fact that he was 6'0 and Evan was only 5'9. Brushing his hair behind his ear, he looked Evan in the eyes. Even in the dim lights, he could see the intense, and very anxious expression fixed on Evan's face.
"Will you go dance with me, C-Connor?"
Holy sh- what?
