*Memory or Thought and A/n unless I say otherwise*"Why, Papa?! Why can't I go to earth?!" I yell as he sits on his throne. He looks older than his actual age and almost bored. Like if he could be doing something so much more interesting than talking with me.
I just turned 21 two weeks ago but I'm still trapped here. He said when I turned 18 I could go to earth so I could fulfill my duty as protector. But he hasn't budged one bit.
Throughout my years of life I've on been aloud to look on from the sidelines and never up close. My mother died protecting me and the kingdom when I was 8. My older brother Charlie was 10 and was hiding in a secret room. But I heard my mother dream in pain and ran out to help her. When the invaders captured me and made me watch as the tortured and killed her. I screamed in sorrow and pain. And it resulted in my powers activating, almost destroying the castle.
The invaders ran for their lives and never came back. But we lost so much that day that we can never get back. I was snapped out of my daze when my father cleared his throat. I looked up and saw him with an eyebrow raised quizzically. I sighed and turned to Charlie leaning against the back wall. I pleaded to him with my eyes and he smiled slightly. He was there when I watched the Battle of New York in tears. He walked up beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders and stood confidently.
"Let her go, father. All she has done was to make you proud but you only push her away. You say that her lack of memory is a disability, but the only disability is you keeping her hostage." Charlie spoke thoughtfully.
Father had a look of consideration on his face and I peaked into his mind. The first time he saw me. The first time he held me in his arms with my small hand wrapped around his finger. The first training session. The day my mother died. The vow he made to protect me in place of my mother. The promise he made to never let me feel unloved. The same promise he broke as he pushed me away. My eyes sparkling and a large smile as a child when we played together.
I slipped out of his memories and smiled sweetly for good measure. He stared at me for a few minutes and sighed. Then next word he uttered made my heart stop and my eyes widen.
"Go."
