I considered I might not exactly be straight when I was 11. I had a best friend who I really wanted to kiss. I never did, but it made me realise that the feelings I had towards her weren't just the mutual feelings of two best friends.
Skip to when I was fourteen. Year ten of secondary school. Freshly dumped. I found comfort in another best friend, not the sexual kind though. Just soft hugs and gentle kisses. I realised I was almost certain I liked girls the night of my break up. Except I liked boys too. So maybe the girl thing was just a phase?
Skip to year eleven of secondary school. I was sixteen. I was attracted to both a boy and a girl in the same year. Maybe I was just curious?
Skip to when I was eighteen. I found out about bisexuality and considered I might be it. But the girl thing still might be a phase.
Skip to now, where I'm sitting across from a gorgeous girl with bubblegum pink hair and an amazing smile. This is where I find out I'm definitely attracted to girls. Especially this girl.
We've been talking for a month now. Not relationship wise, just friends. And that's perfect for me.
'Do you think plants have feelings?' Bubblegum asked. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked over to see her staring at me. Her sooty black eyes staring deeply into mine. She held a completely serious face.
'Yes. They have to because they're a living thing right? Every living thing has feeling. Every living thing have feelings.' I took a sip out of my hot chocolate. It was nice, but she probably tasted nicer. I choked on my drink at my own perverted thought.
'Oh shit are you okay? Do you need a napkin?' Bubblegum asked, standing up rapidly and already walking towards the napkins. I got a nice view of her ass. Fuck why am I being so perverted?!
I thanked her as she sat down, handing me a napkin in the process.

'You know something, candy floss? You're the quietest person I've ever talked to.' Bubblegum and I had abandoned the coffee shop about two hours ago and were just mindlessly walking around town, our hands so close I could hold hers in a second if I wanted.
'Funny story about that actually, I used to talk a lot. My family got sick of it I guess and my dad told me if I didn't shut up he'd shut me up by cramming a gobstopper in my mouth permanently. Ten year old me was gullible haha. I shut up for good after that.' Maybe my voice caught or something, because Bubblegum gave a small sympathetic smile, before opening her mouth.
'I don't want you to shut up, candy floss. I like your voice.' She reached for my hand and gently grasped it.
I officially felt my heart explode.
Yeah, I definitely liked this girl.
