It was the last night of December, exactly 11:55 pm on the clock. There were lots of people around us, waiting for fireworks to cover the sky. While here we are, sitting quietly under the tree.

"What am I to you?" You suddenly asked, trying to break the silence between us.

I smiled, but it didn't reach my eyes. I looked at you with fondness written all over my face. Then, you met my gaze. I can't see any emotion in your eyes. It's funny because I know that you will never look at me the way I look at you. And it hurts. It hurts for I know that it's still her, it will always be her.

"You are the guy I will never have, for you will never take me seriously." I answered calmly, as if my heart was not crying and screaming in pain. I let out a sigh, hoping that the pain would stop-- but it didn't.

The fireworks started to light up the sky as the shattered pieces of my heart started to crush under yor feet.
