The clock flashed 7:16. Jack awoke, he had to be at the club for 8:30. That gave him enough time for him to shower, get dressed and take the kids to school. He shuffled out of bed and rubbed his eyes as he thought about the hard day he was about to have. He was meeting Mel at the club to discuss 'refurbishment and opening night plans'. He eventually got up and trudged to the shower. Once he had showered he headed down stairs in which he saw Ricky and Amy at the breakfast bar with Ingrid pouring away the leftover cornflakes into the food bin.
"Morning Jack" Ingrid smiled
"Daddy!" screeched Amy rushing down from the table to hug Jack. Ricky later joined her after stuffing his face with a mouthful of cornflakes.
"Hiya Ingrid. Is it ok if I take them to school this morning?" he asked hugging Amy and then Ricky
"Yes of course, that works for me as I have a dentist appointment this morning but will be back in time to pick them up" she said
"Thanks. Right come on kids, get your shoes on! We're going to be late" Jack said
"Race you!" Ricky shouted looking at Amy and they raced to the banister, seeing who could put their shoes and coat on quickest.
Jack laughed as he grabbed his keys from the breakfast bar and said goodbye to Ingrid.
He walked to the front door where he was greeted by his two fully dressed children waiting to go.
"Who won?" he asked laughing
"ME! ME! I DID." they said together squabbling over first place.
"I bet you were both fast! Come on let's go"
They made their way to school, across the square and down Bridge Street. Mick was outside putting the bins out and the market was busy.
"You alright Mick?" Jack bellowed
"Alright!" He replied
"How was mic night?" Jack asked
"Kushdey.. kushdey" He replied
Jack and the kids carried on walking. Jack was a little worried about Mick from the showdown he had with Aidan Mcguire not a week earlier but he was sure he'd be alright.
Down Bridge Street, outside the club surprisingly Jack was greeted by his fellow business partner, Mel.
"Hiya Jack.. Still up for this morning?"
"Of course." He looked down at the kids staring blankly at him "Amy, Ricky meet Mel. Mel, Amy & Ricky" he said pointing to them
"Hello you two. See you at half 8" She said walking back into the club.
They carry on walking.
"Who was she daddy?" Amy asked
"I told you it was Mel" he replied
"Is she your girllfrienddd?" Ricky joked making kissing noises.
The kids giggled and so did Jack "Don't be silly, she's my business partner"
Ricky and Amy looked at each other still giggling raising an eyebrow at one another.
"Come on you pair of nutters! Let's go" Jack said letting them run ahead.
