A/N. I know you people have waited so eagerly and patiently, so here it is. But first I want to thank each of you for supporting me and my story! You are the reason I'm writing and wanting it to make the story as awesome as I can! Hope you enjoy the read😘
"Didn't see you in the room after I woke up." No 'Good Morning', no 'Hello wife', no preliminaries. Siya looked at her handsome hunk of a husband, who was seated on the armchair, dressed in casual travel attire, ready for the flight. He looked really upset about something.
Good! She thought. It was a good omen to start Divya's plan. A plan Siya was not very sure of, but desperate enough to go through with. A plan that was basically "trust me, do exactly as I say, and don't ask any questions". Naturally, for someone who was as big a control freak as Siya this was going to be especially difficult. But if Abhi's current annoyance was any indication of how it was going to be, Siya was willing to take a chance. It was better than the horrible politeness.
"Yeah...woke up early and decided to go for a jog, then got ready and ate some breakfast". She replied. Siya was ready too, Divya had helped her pick her outfit, had styled her hair and had helped her with cold compression for her eyes, to reduce the dark circles. Having not slept the entire night, Siya didn't think the cold compress was of much help. So she had put on her sunglasses.
"Did any of the staff see you?" He asked, his voice betraying a latent irritation.
"Um, I don't know. Didn't really pay much attention. Was busy admiring the sunrise. Why?" She was beginning to understand why he was upset.
"Normally a newly wed bride would sleep in after the first night." He said, his face going blank, a mask of patience and politeness.
Although the relapse of his politeness caused a pang in her heart, his words made her blush. She remembered what she and Divya had talked about and replied calmly.
"Well, maybe they'll assume this wasn't our first night. We've been living together and we've been engaged for a long time. It's not like we haven't done other stuff.""What are you..." Abhi looked thoroughly confused by her calm response.
"It's almost 8:15, we need to leave if we want to reach in time for the flight. It's rude to keep them waiting." She said, gathering her carry-ons, and double checking all the documents. He seemed to agree with her, because he didn't finish his question, instead asked for the staff to load the car with their luggage.
After bidding Divakar Kaka goodbye, Siya started towards the door, when Abhi called out.
"Wait Siya...there will be a barrage of reporters waiting outside the gates. We need...well, we need..."She understood exactly what he was trying to tell her. She need to stop getting her hopes up every time he called out her name. She need to stop hoping that her old Abhi would forgive her in a heartbeat and they would become best friends just like that. She needed to get used to this polite and rational stranger she had married.
Pushing the hurt aside, she sighed and looped her arms around his arm.
"There, how about we get moving now?" He looked down at her with slightly narrowed eyes as if considering something, but didn't say anything.Once they were inside the car, and he had pulled up the soundproofing screen he looked deep into her eyes and asked.
"What game are you playing Siya?""What are you talking about?" She asked, her heart thudding loudly. Dare she hope he would actually show his true feelings finally!
"The way you are behaving since morning, it makes me feel like you are on about something." He said, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
