Guess who's back on their bullshit👀??
Tiarra
Tiarra drove the 45 minute commute from her job to her home annoyed beyond measure. Hell, annoyed couldn't properly encompass what she was feeling as she left work. Incensed was more like it.
Yeah, incensed at the fact she'd been skipped over, once again, for senior partner at the law firm she worked for, Locke & Westbrooks. She'd put in ten laborious years, starting at the bottom of the food chain as a lowly secretary, there to do nothing more than answer phones and provide arm candy at company galas.
She grew tired of that long before her first anniversary, and she made quick work of forcing those around her to see her for the asset she truly was. Not that it was a walk in the park, oh no. Being young, Black, AND a woman put her at three strikes before she even dreamt of becoming a lawyer. Never one to let any of that deter her, she took her perfect bar scores from both LA & New York to Locke & Westbrooks in 2007 hoping simply for the chance to get her foot in the door.
Yet, once she was able to finally start practicing law, she noticed how quickly her career became stagnant. Though it's been proven time and time again she's a beast in the courtroom, the only cases that ever came across her desk were the menial, downright boring, less than misdemeanors none of the higher ups felt were worthy of their time.
That isn't even the end of it. There have been five opportunities over the past six years for her to rise through the ranks to become senior partner, which would give her the opportunity to finally be seen as an equal in the eyes of her colleagues. Each time she was sure she had it in the bag, she was overlooked in favor of a Dexter, or a Brad, or a Kyle. All of whom had put in less years and have drastically lower win:loss case ratios than she. They did have one ability she just didn't possess. Each of them could piss standing. They did also bested her in ass kissing and dick riding. She just knew her skills were unmatched in the latter.
Yet, she wasn't on the verge of giving up. Her mother would have her head if that were to happen. She was, though, dangerously close to letting the Magnolia Projects of uptown New Orleans where she was raised slip through her carefully constructed professional demeanor.
She felt extremely lucky that this was the start of her three-week paid vacation. Putting in long hours of doing her work and everyone else's pays off in the long run, she realized.
Upon crossing the threshold of her home, she promptly let her bag that carried her life in it fall to the floor with a thump, sighing as she did. This caught the attention of her fiancé, Luke.
"Hey, baby," he rose from his spot on the sofa to greet her. He smiled showing off his pretty, pearly whites. Her irritation always seemed to melt while in his presence. "How was your day?"
A deep, annoyed sigh left her nostrils while her eyes rolled to the back of her head in a nonverbal answer.
He took the time to really examine his girl's face, and he took in the dark circles that peeked through the foundation she wore and the overall tiredness in her deep, brown eyes he loved so much. That alone had him ready to wreak havoc on everybody at her damn job.
"Let daddy take care of you, baby," he said while moving hair from her face.
His deep, gravelly tone unintentionally had her dripping. She swiped her tongue over her bottom lip before bringing it between her teeth. He swept her off her feet, literally, and carried her to their master bath.
