Prologue:
Thalia sniffed. "Humph."
Duncan couldn't believe it. She'd sniffed at him, dismissing him completely. How dare she? By God, he would show her who was boss and what he would and would not stand for. He lifted her higher in his arms and kissed her. 'You swore you wouldn't kiss her again,' his logical side whispered in his ear. 'You should have a care.'
The logical side was probably right, but the lusty side of him was fighting to overrule it. His body was achingly aware of the softness of her curves, of the full press of her breasts against his chest.
Somehow, some way, he would conquer this girl, bend her to his will, and he already knew there was one way- and one way only- to silence her infuriating speech. However, if he kissed her again, he didn't kniw if he'd have the strength to pull away.
His captive took matters into her own hands. Held prisoner against his chest, her eyes flashing daggers, she grasped him by the back of his neck and planted a kiss upon his surprised lips.
Duncan felt the pressure of her soft lips with a ferocious mixture of pleasure and fury that dissolved his self-control with one fell blow. Giving in to the passion, he tightened his arms around her narrow waist and deepened the kiss.
